The story
How two digital marketers ended up running a cleaning company
We are Yani and Dimitar, founders of Monster Cleaning. We did not plan any of this. We started in digital marketing, spending years helping London businesses grow their online presence. During that time we worked with a lot of service companies, cleaners included, and kept seeing the same problem everywhere: customers paying too much for mediocre work, and good cleaners getting paid too little to care.
It bothered us more than it probably should have. We would sit in client meetings listening to complaints about rushed domestic cleaning, unreliable staff, and prices that seemed to bear no relation to the quality of the work. Meanwhile, the experienced cleaners we knew personally were struggling to make a decent living. The whole model was broken: companies hiring masses of undertrained staff, cutting corners, and hoping nobody noticed. The only people doing well out of it were the middlemen.
So we decided to build something that actually made sense. Not a “service revolution” or whatever the LinkedIn crowd would call it. Just a cleaning company where the cleaners are properly trained, properly paid, and actually give a damn. We incorporated Monster Cleaning in 2015, but we had been operating under different names before that.

Our approach was simple but apparently unusual: fewer staff, better training, fair pay, and tight operations. Instead of trying to cover every postcode with an army of people we had never met, we partnered with a small group of experienced cleaning professionals and built outward from there.
People told us it would not scale. “You cannot cover all of London with a small team.” But it turns out you can, provided your team actually knows what they are doing and you are not wasting half their day sending them across town. Smart scheduling, specialised training, and treating people like adults. That is it. Our crews now handle everything from carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning to office cleaning and commercial cleaning across London, Liverpool, and Manchester.
Growing because people asked us to
We did not sit in a boardroom planning our service expansion. Customers asked. We would finish a house clean and they would say “can you do the oven as well?” So we learned oven cleaning. Then it was mattress cleaning. Then patios and driveways. Then after-builders cleaning, which has become one of our most requested services. Probably because anyone who has ever had builders in knows the dust gets absolutely everywhere.
Every new service started the same way: a customer asked, we figured out how to do it properly, we trained the team, and then we offered it. No shortcuts.

Saying no
Beyond cleaning
Over the years, the same customers who trusted us with their homes started asking if we could help with other things. That is how we ended up offering removals, ironing, and gardening services. The logic was simple: if someone already trusts you inside their home, they would rather call you than find a stranger for the next job.
We only take on services we can actually do well. We have turned down plenty of requests over the years because we were not confident we could deliver to the same standard as our cleaning services. We would rather say no than do a half-arsed job and damage a relationship we have spent years building.

Where we are now
It has been over a decade since we started this. We now cover London, Liverpool, Manchester and surrounding areas. Most of our new customers come through word of mouth. Someone’s friend or colleague used us, liked it, passed on the number. That has always been our best marketing, and honestly it is the metric we care about most.
