Top 4 Japanese Restaurants In Bermondsey According To Our Team

Hakata Ramen + Bar

If you love ramen then you definitely have to visit Hakata Ramen + Bar – the best ramen restaurant in Bermondsey that we are certain you will fall in love with. The interior is very stylish and cosy, the food is incredible, and the overall service is fantastic. Keep in mind that every ramen dish is served with soft-boiled egg, menma, beansprouts, spring onions, and takinori, however, you can change these toppings if you want to remove or add something else.

We love their Kumamoto ramen (shio tare with 12-hour pork broth, pork, wood ear mushrooms, garlic chips, burnt garlic oil) and the Spicy Miso (miso tare with Shiitake mushroom broth, burnt sweetcorn, chilli bits, choice of pork, chicken or mushrooms). They also offer delicious Gyoza – chicken, pork, prawn, and vegetable ones.

Bone Daddies Bermondsey

Another favourite ramen restaurant of ours that is located in Bermondsey is Bone Daddies. It’s a very popular place plus they have locations all over London.

We highly recommend their Pork Pork Chilli (with special homemade pork broth, charred pork belly, pork mince, chilli oil, spring onion, bamboo, beansprouts, egg), the Tantanmen 2 (with chicken mince, pulled chicken, sesame, chilli, bok choy, bamboo, beansprouts, egg), and the Tonkatsu (with pork belly, spring onion, bamboo, beansprouts, burnt garlic, egg).

If you don’t eat meat then go for the Spicy Miso Ramen (special homemade no-bone broth, 3 miso tare, chilli garlic tofu, mushrooms, bok choi, chilli, sesame) or the Mushroom Ramen (mushrooms, asparagus, bok choy, beansprouts, mushroom butter, fresh tofu, garlic, thyme, egg).

Wawa Restaurant

Since the other two options on our list were ramen places, it’s time to tell you more about a restaurant that offers other traditional Japanese dishes – Wawa!

We always start off with a Cucumber and Seaweed salad. We also really enjoy their Oyster in Panko with tartar sauce, the Tempura Prawns, and the Soft Shell Crab in tempura.

Then we either move on to their delicious sushi – they have a lot of options, or we go for their other main dishes. You can never go wrong with their Salmon Teriyaki, the Chicken Katsu Curry which is served with rice, or their unique Katsu Burger (which has Angus beef, wasabi, mayo).

Iro Sushi

And last on our list is actually a takeaway restaurant with both takeout and home delivery options. We absolutely love their food and how delicious everything is. On their menu you can find all of your favourite Japanese food – from sushi to teriyaki dishes, ramen, gyoza, poke bowls, and much more.

We recommend you start off with a Chicken or Prawn Gyoza.

Of course, we always order sushi from Iro Sushi because they make the best sushi in the area, however, we also really enjoy their Chicken Stir-Fried Noodles, Duck Chilli Ramen, the Chicken Katsu Curry, and Chicken Teriyaki!
