Are you searching for good restaurants that offer Japanese food in Bethnal Green? Then you are going to love this list that our team has made where they tell you all about their favourite Japanese restaurants in the area!

Japanese Canteen

One of our favourite Japanese restaurants in Bethnal Green is the Japanese Canteen which is why it’s first on our list. It’s a casual place with an impressive menu featuring some of the best traditional dishes which are prepared with fresh ingredients.

We love their sushi – especially the Dragon Roll and the Tropical Roll (which has tempura prawns, cucumber, pineapple, coconut mayo, toasted coconut, and sesame seeds).

But aside from their sushi options, they also offer delicious Donburi – and we recommend the Salmon Teriyaki Donburi, Roast Belly Pork Donburi (with spicy chilli sauce, steamed rice, Asian slaw, sesame bean shoots), and Chicken Katsu Curry Donburi!

Issho-Ni Bethnal Green

Next on our list is Issho-Ni – probably the Japanese restaurant in Bethnal Green with the most beautifully decorated interior. Inspired by Japan in the 1920s, this contemporary place offers delicious traditional food with a modern twist as well as a lovely cocktail bar where you can order their signature Japanese-inspired cocktails!

Definitely start off with their Crab Salad (crab, mixed leaves, avocado, mango, lotus chips, apple dressing), try the Homemade Kimchi,
Crab Croquettes with truffle mayo, and the Chicken Yakitori (which has onion, spring onion, and teriyaki sauce).

When it comes to their main dishes, they really are known for their sushi. They offer a lot of options – and we always get the Sushi Platter for 2 (which includes Sashimi: 2 Salmon, 2 Tuna; Nigiri: 2 Salmon, 2 Seabass, 2 Prawn; Maki: 8 Prawn Tempura, 8 Spicy Tuna, and 8 Salmon Avocado).

For dessert, you are going to love their Mochi Ice Cream options – from coconut and passion fruit to strawberry and cheesecake!

Mio Yatai

Another incredible contemporary Japanese restaurant that you are going to love visiting is Mio Yatai. The interior is modern and stylish yet casual, the service is excellent, and the menu is impressive – especially all of their Japanese dishes that have a modern twist to the traditional option.

Starters include lovely options such as a Homemade Mushroom Gyoza, Prawn tempura, and Homemade Kimchi. We also really love their Bao Buns – especially the Soft Shell Crab Tempura Bao Buns and the Chicken Katsu Bao Buns.

When it comes to their main dishes, they have Teriyaki dishes such as their lovely Salmon Teriyaki, Ramen, Yaki Soba Noodles, and a lot of sushi options!

Sushi Masago

And last on our list is Sushi Masago – a very casual and simple counter-serve eatery that, unfortunately, has a small dine-in area, however, they do offer takeaway and home delivery! This place can definitely be considered as a hidden gem because not many people know about it but we do guarantee you will enjoy their food!

Keep in mind that their menu mainly consists of sushi!

We usually start off with a Duck Gyoza (with spicy chilly mayo) or a Prawn Gyoza (with spicy chilly mayo) and then continue with their incredible sushi.

From uramaki, nigiri, and sashimi to maki rolls and temaki rolls, they have it all! If you don’t eat fish they also have plenty of veggie options such as Cucumber and Avocado Maki Rolls, Carrot Maki, Cucumber Uramaki, and even Sweet Potato Uramaki!
