There are so many Japanese restaurants in Islington, right? This is why we decided to gather all of our favourite ones and feature them in this list – so you know exactly where to go whenever you are craving some delicious sushi, tempura, udon, yakitori, and all of your other favourite traditional dishes!

Top 4 Japanese Restaurants In Islington You Must Visit

Zen Mondo

First on our list today is Zen Mondo – an incredible Japanese restaurant in Islington offering traditional food with a modern unique twist. Everything is super delicious, creative, and interesting – presented in a beautiful way. We are impressed not only by the service and how tasty everything on the menu is but also by the presentation. Of course, this is not the most important thing in a restaurant, however, we love seeing such a touch because it shows dedication!

We always start off with a Tonjiru Miso Soup with pork. They also have incredible salads – our favourite is the Silk Tofu Salad (with lime leaves, sesame dressing)!

They have sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, gyoza, noodles (soba and udon), nabe, tempura, and much more! We are certain you are going to love this place as much as we do which is why we recommend you visit next time you are craving Japanese cuisine!

Tenshi

Tenshi serves Japanese homecooked food like sushi, sashimi, Japanese curry, and plenty of other hot dishes we all love. What we like most about this place is that they have an open kitchen so you will be able to see how they prepare your order. All ingredients they use are fresh, the food is delicious, and the staff is super friendly – plus, the interior is modern and stylish. Visit for lunch or dinner with friends or family whenever you have time – you will be amazed!

They have two menus – a Lunch one and a Dinner one. In the Lunch Menu, they offer things like Bento boxes, salads, soups, sushi sets and curry sets. We highly recommend you try out the Pork Katsu Curry (Served with a salad and a miso soup), the Mix Sushi Set, or the Salmon Teriyaki Bento!

In their Dinner menu, you will find Uramaki, Sashimi, Sushi rolls, salads, gyoza, dishes with teriyaki sauce, Okonomiyaki, tempura, grilled meat, fish, and tofu, Japanese curry, Noodles, and Donburi. We honestly love everything on their menu!

Omakase At Hot Stone

Omakase At Hot Stone is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants in Islington. They are an award-winning restaurant that many love. Some of you have already probably visited since they are so popular, however, if this is the first time you are hearing about Hot Stone – definitely book a table and go whenever you have time! They not only serve traditional Japanese food and sushi but are also Kobe beef that is certified – and as you probably know, this is the finest beef in the world.

This is another restaurant that will amaze you with delicious food, attention to the smallest detail, excellent service, an incredible atmosphere, and beautifully decorated dishes!

The menu is small and simple because they are focused on delivering quality over quantity – and we love that about them! We always start off with either Crispy rice with tuna tartare or Fresh Oysters with Tosazu Sauce. They also have different Carpaccio, Maki Rolls, sushi, sashimi, and a few other dishes.

Also, don’t misso ut on their desserts – the Homemade Green tea matcha cheesecake is divine!

Sanjugo

And last on our list is Sanjugo – a beautiful little Japanese restaurant serving traditional food.

Their starters include Edamame, Fried Chicken dumplings, Miso Soup, etc. They also have incredible salads – our favourites are the Hiramasa salad (hiramasa fish with Ponzu white truffle oil, marinated Salmon roe) and the Tuna Tataki (Seared Tuna, sesame sauce, chilli, fish roe, spring onion, radish)!

Next they have Tempura, grilled meat, fish, sushi and sashimi, maki rolls, Donburi, and Bao!

We highly recommend the Panko prawn Bao (with teriyaki sauce and spicy mayo), all of their sushi and maki rolls, Grilled Sake Kama (Grilled salmon with ponzu sauce, rice, salad), Lidako Karaage (baby octopus, salad, lemon), and Grilled Hamachi Kama (yellowtail, ponzu sauce, rice, salad)!
