Top 4 Mediterranean Restaurants In Watford You Must Visit

Derwish Meze & BBQ Restaurant

Our favourite Mediterranean restaurant in the area happens to be a Turkish place – Dewish Meze & BBQ. The interior is very casual and traditional, the service is wonderful, and the food is incredible – exactly what we are looking for in a good restaurant.

Everything on the menu consists of Turkish dishes – from starters and main dishes to even lovely desserts. We always start off with a Tabbouleh salad, Vine Leaves stuffed with rice and herbs, and Sigara Boregi which is a pastry with feta cheese.

Main dishes include traditional charcoal-grilled kebabs, delicious Sarma Chicken Beyti (with homemade bread, yoghurt, tomato sauce, butter, rice, and a salad), and even Halep Kebab which has grilled lamb, bread, tomato sauce, rice, and a salad.

What we love even more on their menu are all their Turkish pizza options which are also called Pide. The Beyaz Peynir Pide (with feta cheese, peppers, tomatoes, onions, and parsley) and the Chicken Pide (chicken, tomato, mixed peppers, parsley, onion, mozzarella) are our favourites.

Opuz Kitchen

Another lovely Turkish restaurant in Watford that you are going to love is Opuz Kitchen – a sophisticated and modern place with a stylish interior, lovely staff, and excellent food.

You can never go wrong with starting off with their Falafel, Babaganoush, Grilled Cypriot halloumi cheese, or some tasty Deep-fried squid.

When it comes to their main dishes, you can enjoy delicious charcoal-grilled kebabs such as Adana, Lamb Cutlets, and Chicken Shish. We also really like their Grilled Sea Bass Fillet.

And for dessert make sure you get a Baklava which is also served with vanilla ice cream.

L’Artista

Another favourite Mediterranean restaurant of ours you have to visit is L’Artista – a beautiful place offering Italian food. The interior is rustic, the menu is impressive, and the staff is friendly.

They have our favourite Italian starter – Prosciutto with melon as well as other options such as Pepata Di Cozze (mussels, garlic, wine, tomato sauce) and Mozzarella In Carrozza (deep-fried mozzarella with tomato and anchovies).

Of course, main dishes include delicious pasta options such as the Tagliatelle Con Polpette (with meatballs), Gnocchi Al 4 Formaggi, Penne Chicchiricchi (with chicken, mushrooms and cream), and Ravioli with ricotta and spinach.

If you are craving pizza then we highly recommend you visit L’Artista because they have some of the best pizzas in the area.

For dessert, you are going to love their Profiteroles as well as the traditional Tiramisu.

You can never go wrong with their Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina (with mozzarella, parmesan, and tomato sauce), the Linguini Marinara with mixed seafood, the Salmon tagliatelle with peas and cream sauce, and the Ravioli di Zucca which has butternut squash and cherry tomatoes.

Aside from their pasta dishes, we also really enjoy the Pollo Milanese, Veal Milanese, the Grilled lamb chops as well as all of their pizzas!
