Every now and then, when we eat chocolate, small pieces fall out and leave a nice smelling but nevertheless unpleasant stains. So how should we deal with them?
When the stain is on your clothes:
First of all, try to remove it with the help of a pen-knife if you have one at hand. You could also use a kitchen knife, just be careful not choose a sharp one and not to cut your finger. Proceed with washing with soap or detergent, keeping in mind the washing instructions from your garment label.
When the stain is on your carpet:
Carefully try to scrape off the piece of chocolate, using a knife. Avoid touching the chocolate – it melts quickly and you may end up making the matters worse. Thoughtfully apply carpet shampoo, then rinse.
When the stain is on your upholstery:
Use a knife to remove as much chocolate as you can. Treat what is left of the stain with a suitable stain remover.
In every case, always read the manufacturer instructions if there are any, before you do anything. Then proceed with a small test patch. If any doubt, consult a professional cleaner.
