Question first, then the small print. Can you reach Heaton, Smithills and Lostock between half eight and three, and are you happy doing two-hour rounds in stone-built terraces and 1930s semis? If yes, read on. We’re hiring a part-time domestic cleaner across Bolton at £13.50 an hour, paid weekly, on regular fortnightly rounds.
That’s the headline.
Where the rota actually sits
Most of our Bolton work is concentrated west and north of the town centre. Heaton and Smithills (BL1) for the 1930s semis. Halliwell streets for the long Victorian terraces. The newer estates in Lostock and Horwich (BL6), and a steady stream of stone-built houses on the moorland edge towards Belmont and Bromley Cross (BL7). South of town we cover Farnworth and Kearsley (BL4), some of Westhoughton (BL5), and a handful of jobs in Little Lever (BL3). Breightmet and Tonge Moor (BL2) round it out.
The housing mix matters because the work changes by area. Stone-built terraces near the moors take longer to dust properly. The post-war estates around Breightmet are a different shape of clean again. You’ll know the difference within a fortnight.
What it pays
£13.50 an hour. Bank transfer every Friday. Two-hour minimum visit. Mileage above four miles between jobs at 30p a mile. That’s well above the 2025/26 National Living Wage of £12.21 and a bit ahead of the Bolton agency average we’ve seen on Hamuch and Maid2Clean’s local listings.
Weekly because monthly is awful when you’re new and waiting on a first wage. We’ve heard it from cleaners who’ve come to us from the bigger franchise outfits.
Hours
Part-time means part-time. Roughly 16 to 24 hours a week to start, weekday daytimes, with the option to add a Saturday morning if you want one. Most clients want the same cleaner each fortnight, so the round builds steady. School-hours-only rotas are fine — Heaton and Lostock primaries finish around 3.15 and we plan around it.
Getting around Bolton
You don’t have to drive. The 8 and 575 buses cover the spine through Halliwell and Astley Bridge, and Horwich Parkway station puts you next to the Lostock estates and the Toughsheet Community Stadium (still the University of Bolton Stadium to most people round here). Bolton Interchange links you back into central jobs.
Drivers earn more in a day, plain and simple. Belmont, parts of Bromley Cross and the Last Drop Village area in BL7 are awkward without a car. There’s no Clean Air Zone in Bolton — Greater Manchester’s was scrapped — so an older car is fine.
Two time-of-week things worth knowing. Bolton Market on Ashburner Street runs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9 to 5, and the town-centre traffic gets thicker on those mornings. And on Bolton Wanderers home matchdays the roads around Horwich Parkway and Middlebrook back up badly from about an hour before kick-off — we try not to book Lostock or Horwich slots for late afternoons when there’s a fixture.

- ✓You turn up. One of the franchise agencies in Westhoughton lost bookings last summer to no-shows and we ended up with the work.
- ✓Text us the night before if a job needs to move.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork in order. Bring ID and a recent utility bill when we meet.
No CV. No covering letter. No long online form.
One Bolton-specific note
If you’re walking the Pike on Good Friday like half the town does at the Rivington Pike Easter Fair, that day’s a write-off and we know it. We schedule around it. Same goes for the Saturday before Easter when the Rivington Pike Fell Race runs — Horwich is busy and parking is impossible. We’d rather not pretend otherwise.
