Brentwood is a 35-minute Elizabeth line ride from Liverpool Street, and that single fact shapes the cleaning rota here more than any other. Most of the houses we clean belong to people who commute, and the working week runs harder for it. Cleans get squeezed into the gap between the school run and the late-afternoon return train. We hire round that pattern.
We’re hiring a part-time domestic cleaner in Brentwood at £13–£15 per hour, paid weekly by bank transfer, on regular fortnightly rounds across CM13, CM14 and CM15.
That sentence is the answer most people scrolling past want. The rest is the small print and a bit of honesty about what the job is really like in this part of Essex.
The rounds, by postcode
CM14 covers Brentwood town centre, the streets around the High Street, Warley to the south, and Pilgrims Hatch on the western edge. The housing here is mixed: Edwardian villas on the side roads off King’s Road, modern flats around the station and the Sainsbury’s regeneration site, and 1930s semis once you get out towards Warley Hill. CM15 is the bigger area for us, taking in Shenfield, Hutton, and the streets either side of Hutton Road. Shenfield has the mock-Tudor stock around Hutton Mount that is unmistakable once you’ve cleaned a few. CM13 is Hutton Mount’s southern edge, Ingrave, Herongate and the band that runs out towards Brentwood School and Thorndon Country Park. A handful of premium detached jobs sit on the Mountnessing fringe of CM15.
Pay, plain numbers
£13 to £15 an hour. Maintenance cleans for regular clients sit at the lower end. End-of-tenancy work and the occasional deep clean run at the top of the range. Bank transfer every Friday for the previous Sunday-to-Saturday week. Weekly. We do it that way because monthly is hard when you’ve just started and you’re waiting for a first wage to land.
Mileage is 45p a mile if a single day involves two of our jobs that aren’t walking distance. We don’t ask you to bring your own vacuum.
Who we want
You’ll have cleaned before, properly. Either through an agency or a serious domestic run (a relative’s holiday let, a friend’s Airbnb turnaround, that kind of thing). We’re not training from zero on this rota.
- ✓You drive, or you live close enough to Brentwood, Shenfield or Hutton stations that the rounds round the centre and Hutton are reachable on foot or by bus. Pilgrims Hatch and Mountnessing are awkward without a car, especially after the early-evening bus thins out.
- ✓You’re free at least three weekday mornings a week. The 09:30 to 14:30 window is the busiest because clients are at work and want the house quiet again before the school pickup.
- ✓You text the night before if a job needs to move. We send the rota by Sunday evening for the week ahead.
What we don’t want: a CV, a covering letter, references printed on headed paper, or a long online form.
Local stuff that matters on a shift
The first eastbound Elizabeth line train from Brentwood runs around 05:00 on weekdays and the last one back is the 01:32 to Shenfield. Useful if you’re stitching a Brentwood morning job onto a London afternoon round, or vice versa. Frequency is roughly every 15 minutes during the day, six minutes from Brentwood to Shenfield, so swapping between the two sides of CM15 mid-shift is realistic.
Parking on Hutton Road and around Brentwood High Street can be tight; clients usually pay if a job needs a multi-storey space, otherwise it’s a five-minute walk from a side street. Thorndon Country Park is on the southern fringe and the parking charges there are not relevant to most jobs. The 73 bus to Warley and the 151 to Halfway House are the two routes most cleaners use to get round CM14 without driving.
It’s a TOWIE town, sort of. The Sugar Hut sits on the High Street and Brit Movie Tours runs cast tours that occasionally clog the centre on weekends. Avoid early Saturday afternoons for any town-centre jobs that need parking. Otherwise the show has very little to do with the work.
The competition, briefly
Maid In Essex charges £13.50 an hour plus a management fee for regular weekly cleaning. Hey Presto run a flat £18.50 with a two-hour minimum. Well Polished sit around £16.95. We pay our cleaners between them and we keep the same cleaner on the same job for as long as both sides are happy. Our turnover is low for a reason.
Two letting agents we work with on Hutton Road are Hilbery Chaplin (number 184) and Beresfords (number 226), both Shenfield-end. End-of-tenancy slots from those two run heavier in late August and early September when the local rental market shifts.
