If you’ve already cleaned in Tameside, you’ll know the borough is wider than people give it credit for. From Mossley up by the Peak District fringe down to Denton on the M60, it’s a thirty-minute drive end to end, and the work mix changes as you cross it.
We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Tameside at £13 an hour, paid weekly, on regular rounds in Ashton-under-Lyne, Stalybridge, Hyde, Dukinfield, Droylsden and Mossley.
That is the role. The rest of this ad is the small print.
Where the rounds sit
About a third of our Tameside rota is in OL6 and OL7 around Ashton-under-Lyne, walking distance from the market and the Metrolink terminus. Ashton Market itself runs Monday to Saturday 9am to 4pm with the table-top market on Sundays, and we time most Ashton-side cleans around the morning rush so cleaners aren’t trying to find parking on Stamford Street while the market traders are loading. The rest splits between SK15 in Stalybridge and SK16 in Dukinfield, SK14 around Hyde and Gee Cross, and a smaller cluster in M34 Denton and M43 Droylsden. A handful of jobs sit up in OL5 Mossley, where the housing turns into stone-built terraces stepping up the hill.
What you’re cleaning
Mostly maintenance cleans in private homes. The housing in this borough is not one thing. You’ll move between Victorian stone terraces in Mossley and around Stalybridge, 1930s semis in Audenshaw and Droylsden, post-war estates in Hyde and Hattersley, and a growing number of mill-conversion flats. Britannia New Mill in Mossley alone is set to be redeveloped into 49 homes, and we already have end-of-tenancy work booked through letting agents on similar conversions further down Manchester Road.
End-of-tenancy slots come in through two or three regulars: Alex Jones on Penny Meadow in Ashton, and Home Estate Agents who cover Stalybridge, Hyde and Dukinfield from their Stalybridge office. We don’t pretend they always book us first. They book us when we turn up.
Pay, plain numbers
£13 an hour. Paid every Friday by bank transfer. That’s above the National Living Wage for 21+ and a notch above what Dolly Char’s Tameside listings advertise (from £14.50 client rate, with cleaner pay obviously lower).
Self-employed or PAYE, your call.
We pay weekly because monthly is awful when you’re new and waiting on your first wage. We don’t deduct admin fees, training fees, or agency fees.
Tameside quirks worth knowing
Two things shape the working day here.
- ✓The Pennine fringe is real. Mossley, Stalybridge top end, and the eastern edge of Hyde sit right on the Peak District boundary, and the streets get steep and the weather gets its own ideas. Snow days happen. We will not send you up Mossley Brow in a Vauxhall Corsa during a January cold snap and pretend it’s fine. We move the round.
- ✓Stalybridge station works in your favour. Stalybridge sits on the Huddersfield Line, 7.5 miles from Manchester Piccadilly and 8.25 from Manchester Victoria, and the station famously still has its 1885 Victorian buffet bar on Platform 4. The point for cleaners is that the station is well connected, so if you live anywhere along the corridor between Manchester and Huddersfield you can probably reach Stalybridge work without a car.
Driving makes Hyde, Denton and Droylsden easier. The Trans Pennine Trail (NCN 62) crosses the borough from Reddish Vale through to Broadbottom, and a fair few of our cleaners cycle the flatter sections in summer, but we don’t pretend that’s everyone’s commute.
What we want from you
You’ll have cleaned before. Domestically or professionally, doesn’t matter, but not from a standing start.
You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. That’s the only rule we actually grumble about, because once a Hyde or Mossley round is set up the cleaner before and the cleaner after both have plans for the day.
You’ll be okay with stairs. Tameside terraces and mill flats both have plenty.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or a long online application form.
