We clean a lot of homes and offices around King’s Cross, and on the days we are working between York Way and the Caledonian Road, lunch is a serious decision. We have argued about this list more than anything work related. These are the burgers our team actually walks back to, checked and still trading in 2026.
King’s Cross sits right on the seam between Camden and Islington, so our picks are spread across both. York Way is the borough boundary itself, the big stations pull the lunch crowd in, and the streets behind them, Caledonian Road and Pentonville Road, are where the good independents hide. We have eaten our way through all of it on jobs since 2014.
Quick note before the list. We checked every place is open as of May 2026. MEATliquor used to be on here, but its King’s Cross site closed years ago, so it is gone. Honest Burgers takes its place, and honestly it earned the spot.

1. Beer + Burger
Our number one, and it is not close. Beer + Burger has a corner spot on York Way right behind the station, all glass walls and neon. There are around 20 craft beers rotating on tap plus a fridge of cans, so the beer half is sorted. But the burgers are why we keep going back.
The Bacon Cheeseburger, two smashed patties with maple bacon and their own sauce, is what most of us order. The spicy fried Chicken Burger is the backup. Order at the bar, grab a seat inside or on the little terrace, and do not rush this one.

What to order: Bacon Cheeseburger and whatever IPA is on tap
Good to know: Vegan patties available. Loyalty card gets you free burgers and beers.
2. Coqfighter
Chicken person? Stop reading and go here. Coqfighter sits a short walk up the Caledonian Road, the road locals just call the Cally, and it does fried chicken burgers better than anywhere near King’s Cross. We have tried most of them, so we are confident saying it.
The Original with Korean hot sauce and pink onions is where to start. Want heat? The Green Chilli Cheese is properly spicy, not the menu-says-spicy kind. The wings and bao are good if you fancy branching out, and the whole menu is halal.
Where: 3 Caledonian Road, London N1 9DX, just into Islington
What to order: The Original, or the Honey Ginger Buffalo for sweet heat
Good to know: Lunch deals on weekdays. Open until 10pm. Four sites across London.
3. Prime Burger
This one is inside St Pancras International, which makes it the move when you are catching a train and want something good rather than the usual station food. The patties are British beef, Red Tractor assured, and you can taste it.
The Guv’Nor with mature cheddar, bacon and mustard mayo is the standout. It opens early for breakfast rolls and coffee too, so it covers a few bases in one go. Not the cheapest, but for a station burger it is in another league.

What to order: The Guv’Nor, or the katsu crispy chicken
Good to know: Open early till late, 7 days. There is a second one at Euston station.
4. Meat House London
More of a proper sit-down place than the rest. Meat House London is a halal steakhouse on Pentonville Road, on the Islington side, that also does a serious burger. The Juicy Lucy, a beef patty with pulled beef and double cheese, is absurdly filling.
Not in a burger mood? Questionable, but the steaks and grilled meats are solid. There is a full cocktail bar, so this is the pick if you are making an evening of it near Angel rather than grabbing a quick bite. It is good for groups, too.

What to order: The Juicy Lucy, or a chilli burger if you like the burn
Good to know: Halal. Full bar with cocktails, beers and wine. Book ahead for groups.
5. Honest Burgers
We swapped MEATliquor out after its King’s Cross site closed for good back in 2020. Honest Burgers is the replacement, and it probably should have been here from the start. The rosemary salted chips are famous for a reason, and the burgers are consistently good without being fussy.
The Honest Burger, beef with bacon, cheddar, pickles, lettuce and red onion, does exactly what it says. They run monthly specials worth trying, and it is two minutes from the station on Pentonville Road, near the Islington border. Reliable and unpretentious.

What to order: The Honest Burger with rosemary chips
Good to know: Plant-based burger available. It gets busy at peak times, so book or go early. Dog friendly.

Best all rounder, Beer + Burger. Best chicken, Coqfighter, no contest. Quick station bite, Prime Burger. Proper night out, Meat House London. And when you just want a solid burger with great chips, Honest Burgers.

Everything on this list is within a 10-minute walk of King’s Cross and St Pancras stations. If you are coming off a train, Prime Burger at St Pancras and Beer + Burger on York Way are the closest. For the independents, head up the Caledonian Road for Coqfighter or along Pentonville Road toward Angel for Honest Burgers and Meat House.
Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard, just up by Regent’s Canal, are worth a wander after if the weather holds. Parking around here is grim, as anyone who has driven a van into King’s Cross knows, so the stations and the bus routes are your friend.
