Tuesday is the day Chorley town centre changes shape. The street market spreads out from the Flat Iron and the surrounding streets, the buses get rerouted, and Market Walk fills up by ten. We plan our Chorley rota around it. Tuesday morning visits go to the residential streets, not the patches near the centre, because parking on Cleveland Street and around the covered market is gone by half eight. We’re hiring a part-time domestic cleaner in Chorley at £12 to £14 an hour, paid weekly on Fridays, with regular rounds across PR6 and PR7.
Where Chorley actually splits
The two postcodes do most of the work for us. PR7 is the town and the patch immediately west and south: the centre itself, Buckshaw Village, Charnock Richard, Eccleston, Euxton. PR6 sits north and east: Adlington, Anderton, Whittle-le-Woods, Clayton-le-Woods, Heath Charnock, Brindle, Withnell. The town centre is the seam where the two meet, around the railway station on Chapel Street. If you live in either postcode the round will fit around you. We do not do Wigan or Preston rounds out of this rota; those go to the Wigan and Preston books separately.
The housing, plainly
Chorley housing is not one thing. The terraces near the centre, off Eaves Lane and around Friday Street, are mostly Victorian, two-up-two-down with a back yard and the original tile floors in the hall. Around Astley Park and the streets backing onto Hallgate you get 1930s semis, bigger floor area, more carpet, fewer hard floors. Buckshaw Village is the modern estate built on the old Royal Ordnance Factory site, finished in stages from the early 2000s onwards; mostly three- and four-bed family homes with the predictable layouts and the odd shared driveway. Out east towards the Pennine fringes, in Adlington and Whittle-le-Woods, you start to get stone-built terraces and older cottages that feel more West Pennine than Lancashire flatland. Clayton-le-Woods is mostly post-war estates and 1970s family housing. We try to keep each cleaner inside one or two of those bands rather than bouncing across them in a single morning.
Pay, no padding
£12 to £14 an hour. Where you sit on the band depends on three things: how far the round is from where you live, the property size, and whether the client is a regular fortnightly or a one-off end-of-tenancy. Town-centre flats and the Friday Street terraces tend to sit at the lower end because the visits are shorter and you can fit two or three jobs in a morning. Buckshaw Village four-beds, the bigger Astley Park semis and the larger Adlington stone houses sit at the top of the band because the floor area is genuinely bigger and the visit is longer.

For comparison, Well Polished charge their Chorley customers £18.95 an hour and Maid2Clean Chorley start at £16.99 an hour. Those are the rates a customer pays an agency before any cut to the cleaner. Our £12 to £14 is the cleaner’s actual hourly figure, paid into your bank, no hidden deductions or membership fees.
Getting around
Chorley station on Chapel Street sits on the Manchester to Preston line, so you can be in Manchester Victoria inside half an hour and Preston in twelve minutes. Buckshaw Parkway opened in 2011 and gives Buckshaw Village its own stop on the same line, which is why we book a fair share of Buckshaw rounds for cleaners who do not drive. The buses out of Chorley Interchange cover the rest: routes south to Adlington and north to Leyland are the busiest, with services running through Clayton-le-Woods. If you do drive, the M61 at junction 8 is the main artery; we will tell you which jobs are walk-from-the-bus-stop ones and which need a car.
One thing about Chorley FC home games at Victory Park on Pilling Lane. Saturday three o’clock kick-offs push some traffic across the north of town for an hour either side. We do not book Saturday afternoon visits in PR7 1 close to the ground when there is a home fixture; checking the Chorley FC fixture list before we set the Saturday rota is part of the planning we already do.
Where the end-of-tenancy work comes from
A meaningful share of our Chorley bookings come through letting agents. Mahoney Gray on Water Street handle a busy book across Chorley, Buckshaw Village, Eccleston and Coppull. Bridgfords on the High Street, near the Flat Iron, run lettings out of PR7 1DN. Farrell Heyworth sit on the corner of Cleveland Street opposite the market, so you literally walk past them on a Tuesday market visit. Those are tight-window jobs, normally a single day between tenants, sometimes a same-day turnaround when a check-out runs late. If you can do those days at short notice, say so when you apply. The pay sits at the top of the band on those.
What we want from you
- ✓You have cleaned before, paid or seriously domestic. We are not training from zero on this round.
- ✓You answer your phone or text back inside an hour or two.
- ✓You send a text the night before if a job needs to move. Reschedules we can absorb. No-shows we cannot.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork on day one. Photo ID and a recent utility bill, no exceptions.
What we do not ask for: a CV, a covering letter, references in triplicate.
How to apply
Message the number on this page with your first name, the postcode you live in, and one sentence on where you have cleaned before. We reply inside 48 hours. If we want to meet, we meet on a Wednesday morning in the cafe at Astley Park, ten minutes from the station and easy on the bus from Buckshaw Village. Bring photo ID and a recent utility bill so we can sort the right-to-work bit properly. The Astley Hall side of the park is closed for restoration into late summer 2026, but the cafe and Coach House grounds are open year-round. That is the whole process.
