The Stellantis plant on North Road runs the rhythm of this town. Around 950 staff build battery-electric Combos, Berlingos and the Peugeot Partner there, and from late 2026 the Vivaro Electric joins them. That matters for a cleaning rota because shift workers want their flats and houses cleaned on a fixed weekday so the noise lands when they’re awake. We’re hiring a part-time domestic cleaner in Ellesmere Port at £12 to £14 an hour, paid every Friday, on regular rounds across CH65 and CH66.

The patch
CH65 sits closest to the river and the older town: Whitby, Wolverham, Westminster, the Whitby Road high street, and the Stanlow side reaching toward the refinery boundary. CH66 spreads south and west: Great Sutton, Little Sutton, Childer Thornton, Hooton, Overpool, and the Cheshire Oaks corridor along Coliseum Way. We work both sides of that line. CH65 jobs tend to be quicker turnarounds in flats and 1930s semis around Whitby; CH66 has more of the larger Little Sutton detacheds and the modern estates that went up either side of the M53 over the last twenty years.
What you’ll be cleaning
The housing stock is the giveaway. Whitby and Wolverham are mostly post-war estates put up to house the Vauxhall workforce and the Stanlow refinery shift, plus a stretch of 1930s semis on Whitby Road and the lanes feeding off it. The older streets nearer Stanlow have Victorian terraces with original tile in some hallways and tight back yards. Around Cheshire Oaks and Overpool the estates are 1990s and 2000s build, more carpet, more open-plan. Little Sutton, especially the Hooton end, runs to bigger detached houses on larger plots and those are where the longer four-hour visits sit. We try to keep one cleaner inside one or two of those bands so you’re not jumping from a Stanlow terrace to a Hooton detached on the same morning.
Pay, plain
£12 to £14 an hour. Where you sit on the band depends on the round, the property, and whether the client is a fortnightly regular or a one-off end-of-tenancy. CH65 flats and the smaller Whitby semis tend to sit toward £12 because two visits fit in a morning. The Little Sutton and Hooton detacheds, and the bigger Cheshire Oaks-corridor houses, sit toward £14 because the floor area is genuinely larger and you stay longer. Bank transfer, every Friday, no waiting a month.
For context, Well Polished list their Ellesmere Port domestic rate at £17.95 an hour to the customer, and We Clean Homes start from £15. Those are agency prices the client pays. Our £12 to £14 is your actual hourly figure into your bank.
Getting around
Ellesmere Port station is the terminus of the Merseyrail Wirral Line. Trains run every 30 minutes towards Birkenhead and Liverpool Central, every day including Sunday, with a 15-minute peak frequency on weekday mornings and evenings. That’s enough to get you in and out of the CH65 jobs without a car. The Northern service to Helsby and Warrington Bank Quay only runs twice a day Monday to Saturday, so it’s a non-starter for shift planning. For CH66 you usually want a car or a bus down Chester Road through Great Sutton and Little Sutton. The M53 Junction 10 is the Cheshire Oaks junction, and that’s the bottleneck on Saturday and Sunday afternoons because the outlet pulls heavy traffic. We don’t book CH66 jobs that finish at five on a Saturday.
The outlet’s hours are why. Designer Outlet trades 09:00 to 22:00 weekdays, 09:00 to 20:00 Saturdays and 10:00 to 18:00 Sundays, so the worst car-park exit traffic is the afternoon shoulder, not the morning.
End-of-tenancy work
A real share of bookings come through letting agents. Clive Watkin run a busy lettings book out of their Little Sutton branch on Chester Road covering CH66. Reade & Co operate from Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port itself for the CH65 patch. Turner Dooley, a newer South Wirral agency, picks up jobs on the boundary toward Hooton and the Wirral. White Heather Estates have been letting in this corner of Cheshire since 1993 and still run a steady end-of-tenancy stream. Those jobs are tight-window, often a single day between tenants, sometimes a same-day turnaround when a check-out runs late. Tell us when you apply if you can do those at short notice.

- ✓Text the night before if a job needs to move. Reschedules we can absorb. No-shows we can’t.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork on day one. Photo ID and a recent utility bill, no exceptions.
What we don’t want: a CV, a covering letter, references in triplicate.
How to apply
Message the number on this page with your first name, the postcode you live in, and one sentence on where you’ve cleaned before. We reply inside 48 hours. If we want to meet, we meet on a Wednesday morning at the cafe at the National Waterways Museum on South Pier Road in CH65. The museum opens at 10:00 daily through the spring and summer (Tuesday to Sunday in autumn and winter), so we usually meet at 10:30 just inside the entrance.
