The Lewisham branch of the DLR is the spine of our patch in this borough. From the terminus at Lewisham, the line runs back through Elverson Road and Deptford Bridge before climbing onto the viaduct toward Greenwich, and a fair number of our cleaners work that exact corridor on foot from the station nearest each job. If you have ever waited for a Bank-bound train at Elverson Road, you already know the platforms only fit two-car trains, and the doors at one end stay shut.
We are hiring cleaners across Lewisham at £14.80 an hour, paid weekly by bank transfer, on fortnightly rounds across SE13, SE6, SE23 and SE12.
That is the answer. Everything below is the small print.
The patch, plainly
Our Lewisham rota threads through five clusters. Most jobs sit between Lewisham high street and Catford, with a band running up to Brockley and St John’s, plus a Forest Hill and Sydenham group reachable on the Windrush-line Overground, plus a Lee and Hither Green pocket east of Burnt Ash Road, plus a thinner Deptford and New Cross set off the DLR. Roughly half are private flats in converted Victorian terraces around Manor Park and Tressillian Road. The rest are newer blocks behind Lewisham shopping centre and a steady trickle of end-of-tenancy slots booked through Acorn at 153 Lewisham High Street and Winkworth in Blackheath Village.
What we pay and why we pay it that way
£14.80 an hour. That matches the London Living Wage rate for 2025–26, set by the Living Wage Foundation. Bank transfer every Friday. We pay weekly because the local competition does not. Housekeep advertises £13–£14 an hour for cleaners in Lewisham; Maid2Clean’s published cleaner pay sits between roughly £10.58 and £13.99 an hour. We sit a clear pound or two above that floor, on purpose, and the trade-off is we ask you to actually turn up.
Self-employed or PAYE, your call.
Lewisham things you will pick up quickly
Lewisham is a parking borough, but the rules are not uniform across it. Most CPZs run Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, but the older Blackheath-edge zones (LG, LW, MH, P, V) only run 10am to noon, which sounds quaint until you book an end-of-tenancy slot for 11am and discover everyone in the street has the same idea. Lee Manor went out to consultation in early 2025 on extending CPZ hours to 9am to 5pm all-day around Burnt Ash Road, and the council brought new zones live on 27 October 2025. We will tell you which jobs are walk-from-the-station and which need driving. If you do not drive, the DLR plus the 185 (Lewisham to Victoria via Catford and Forest Hill), the 75 (Lewisham to Croydon via Catford and Sydenham), and the Windrush-line Overground through Honor Oak Park and Forest Hill cover almost everything we run.
Lewisham is not a ULEZ exception. The whole borough is inside the expanded zone.
The other thing worth knowing is that Lewisham’s Additional HMO Licensing scheme has been borough-wide since 5 April 2022 and is still in force, which means more of our private-flat clients are HMO tenants than in neighbouring Greenwich. Practically that just shapes the work mix. Smaller rooms, shared kitchens, more midweek changeovers.
What we want from you
You will have cleaned before, properly. Not training-from-zero on this round. You will text the night before if a job needs to move. You will turn up. That is genuinely the rule.
What we do not ask for: a CV, a covering letter, a long form.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Lewisham, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
How to apply
Message the number on this page with your name, the postcode you live in, and one sentence on where you have cleaned before. We reply inside 48 hours. If we want to meet, we meet on a Wednesday morning near Lewisham high street; bring some ID and a recent utility bill so we can do right-to-work properly. That is the whole process.
Open rounds nearby: see our Greenwich rounds toward Maze Hill and Westcombe Park if Lewisham slots are full when you ask.
Hiring organisation: Monster Cleaning, trading since 2014. Posted 7 May 2026, closing 30 June 2026 unless filled sooner.
