Most of our Maidenhead rounds sit on the SL6 side of the river, between the station and the Thames, with a regular spine running north-west toward Pinkneys Green and a smaller cluster up at Cookham. We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners in Maidenhead at £13 to £15 an hour, paid weekly, on regular fortnightly rounds across SL6.
That’s the answer to the obvious question. The rest is how the work actually fits together in this town.
The patch, as it really looks
Maidenhead is not one type of housing. The riverside houses in Bray and Cookham are the prestige end, often four or five hours of work a visit, sometimes a key-holder arrangement because the owners are away in London during the week. Edwardian villas around the centre and along Boyn Hill Road are the steady backbone of the rota: three or four bedrooms, original tile in the hallway, a fair bit of woodwork to keep on top of. Pinkneys Green is mostly 1930s semis with the odd inter-war detached, friendly to do, easy parking. Around the station the regeneration is bringing in a rolling supply of modern flats — that’s where the end-of-tenancy work tends to come from. And then there’s the SL6 village fringe: Bray, Holyport, Burchett’s Green, Hurley, Cookham. Premium detached houses, longer drive, better hourly band.
What it pays
£13 to £15 an hour, paid every Friday by bank transfer. Where you sit on the band depends on three things: the property type, how far the round is from where you live, and whether the client is a regular fortnightly or a one-off end-of-tenancy. Town-centre flats and the Pinkneys Green semis usually pay the lower end, because you can fit two or three of them in a morning without moving the car much. Bray and Cookham pay the upper end because the houses are bigger and the travel between jobs eats more of your day.
Friday transfer. Every week.
We pay weekly because monthly is annoying when you’re new and waiting on a first wage, and frankly the admin is no easier either way.
Getting around Maidenhead
You don’t strictly need a car, but it helps for the village rounds. Maidenhead station is on the Elizabeth line, with services westbound to Reading and eastbound to Paddington and on through central London; fastest run to Paddington is about 17 minutes on the GWR semi-fast, the average is around 35 minutes. Most of our SL6 1, SL6 4 and SL6 7 rounds you can do off the bus and the station, particularly anything between the High Street and the river around the old Brunel Maidenhead Railway Bridge. For Bray, Holyport and out to Burchett’s Green a car genuinely helps; the buses are fine but they go on the hour, not the quarter-hour.
Two practical things to know. First, parking near the river fills up early in summer because Boulter’s Lock and the riverside walk pull a lot of day-trippers down off the Thames Path. We try to set the riverside jobs for mid-morning so you’re past the worst of it. Second, the Cliveden National Trust traffic on weekends affects the route up through Taplow and Cookham Dean: the estate gardens open from 9.30am with the car park closing for entry at 4.30pm, and Saturday mornings around 10.30am are the pinch point if you’re driving up that way. We don’t book Saturday rounds in Cookham earlier than 11am for that reason.

- ✓You’ve cleaned before, paid or seriously domestic. We are not training from zero this round.
- ✓You answer your phone, or text back inside an hour or two when you’re on a job.
- ✓You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. Rebooks we can handle, no-shows we cannot.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork on day one. No exceptions.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, references from three former employers.
A note on the local market
Maidenhead has a higher-than-average density of cleaning firms because of the village fringe and the Bray premium. Anyclean’s Maidenhead arm pitches domestic at the customer end of the market; Handy Cleaners SL6 quote a mix of one-off and regular rates. Our pay band sits where it does because we’re paying the cleaner the actual hourly figure, not what the customer pays before our cut. End-of-tenancy work comes through the letting agents in town: Romans on King Street has been on the high street since 1987 and runs a sizeable lettings book, and Davis Tate’s Berkshire and Oxfordshire network of twelve high-street offices feeds us bookings around the centre and Cookham. Those are tight-window jobs, usually a single day between tenants.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Maidenhead, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
