Part-time domestic cleaner, Oldham. £13.50 an hour, paid weekly by bank transfer. Rounds across OL1, OL2, OL3, OL4, OL8 and OL9, with a regular fortnightly rota and minimum two-hour visits.
If you’ve worked anywhere from Mumps down to Hollinwood, or up the Saddleworth side towards Uppermill, you’ll already know how different the two halves of this borough are. The town centre is Victorian terraces, ex-mill flats around Werneth, and the new builds going up behind Union Street. Saddleworth is something else entirely. Stone Pennine villages, weavers’ cottages with tiny stairs, and clients who’ll mention the brass bands the second you say you’re free on the last Friday in May.
Who we are and what we pay
We’re Monster Cleaning, hiring part-time domestic cleaners on the Oldham rota at £13.50 an hour. PAYE or self-employed, your call. Pay lands every Friday by bank transfer. We don’t do monthly because monthly is a pain when you’ve just started.
Hours are flexible. Most cleaners on this patch do between 12 and 25 hours a week, mornings and early afternoons. School-run friendly if that’s what you need.
Where the work is
The patch splits into three real areas, and you’ll usually do one of them rather than zig-zag the lot:
- ✓Central Oldham and Chadderton (OL1, OL9): Victorian two-up two-downs, 1930s semis off Middleton Road, and a fair few mill conversions in Werneth. Most jobs are a short walk from a bus stop or from Oldham Mumps tram stop on the Rochdale line.
- ✓Royton, Shaw and Failsworth (OL2, OL8): post-war estates, semis, and a rotation of end-of-tenancy slots booked through letting agents like Habitat in Royton.
- ✓Saddleworth villages (OL3, OL4): Uppermill, Delph, Dobcross, Diggle, Greenfield, Lees, Springhead. Stone-built cottages, hilltop new-builds, and the occasional barn conversion above Greenfield. Driving is genuinely useful here.
What we want from you
You’ve cleaned before, professionally or seriously domestically, and you’re happy on a regular fortnightly rota. We want the same cleaner back at the same house every fortnight, not a different face each time.
You’ll text the night before if you need to swap a slot.
You’ll show up.
Driving helps a lot if you want Saddleworth work, because the bus up to Delph and Denshaw is real but slow, and Dobcross is a hill you don’t want to walk twice. Around the town centre and Royton, plenty of cleaners on our books don’t drive at all and just use the trams and the 409.
Two real local quirks worth knowing
First, Whit Friday. The Saddleworth and Oldham brass-band contests run on Friday 29 May 2026, and Uppermill, Delph, Diggle and Greenfield basically close to through traffic from late afternoon. The contests kick off at 4pm. We move our Saddleworth-side jobs to morning slots that day. Don’t promise a 5pm clean in Dobcross on Whit Friday.
Second, Dovestones. The reservoir car park on Bank Lane, OL3 7NE, fills up by about 9.30am on a sunny weekend, and the lay-by parking on the A635 above Greenfield gets snarled. If you live up there and you’re driving in for a 10am job further down the valley, leave earlier than you think.
What we don’t want
No CV. No covering letter.
We’re a small operation and we don’t read them.
We’re also not the cheapest. Buzz Maids, Diamond Home Support and Molly Maid all cover Oldham, so if a flat hourly rate higher than ours is what you want, those are the names to look at. We pay £13.50 because we want the same cleaners back next year.

We reply inside 48 hours on weekdays. If we think it’s a fit, we’ll meet on a weekday morning, often at a cafe near the Old Town Hall arches where the Egyptian Room food hall sits, or in Uppermill if you’re Saddleworth-side. Bring photo ID and a recent utility bill so we can do right-to-work properly. That’s the whole process.
