If you’ve cleaned around the Quays before, you’ll know the rhythm: a BBC short-let in the Heart Apartments at half-eight, a Worsley semi at half-eleven, then back across the Eccles tram line for a Wednesday turnover in Ordsall. We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Salford at £13.50 an hour, paid weekly, on rounds that span M3, M5, M6, M7, M27, M28, M30, M44 and M50.

What the work actually looks like
Salford is not one place. It’s a borough that contains MediaCityUK on one edge and Worsley village on the other, with Victorian terraces in central Salford, post-war estates around Pendleton, ex-mill conversions near Adelphi, 1930s semis in Walkden, and brand-new high-rises along the Quays. The Quays rounds are mostly modern apartments occupied by media professionals on six-month BBC or ITV contracts. They want a tight maintenance clean, in and out. The Worsley and Walkden rounds are family homes, normally bigger and messier, and you’ll do an actual mop-and-hoover round.
A fair chunk of our short-let bookings come through letting agents on or near Salford Quays. Reeds Rains on Langworthy Road handles a lot of the Media City stock, and Peter Anthony covers Eccles, Monton and Salford Quays itself. End-of-tenancy work picks up in the summer when BBC contracts roll over.
Pay, plain
£13.50 an hour. Paid weekly, every Friday, by bank transfer. That’s well above the National Living Wage figure of £11.44 for over-21s for 2025, and it’s at the upper end of what Maid2Clean Salford and the Bright & Beautiful Manchester franchise are paying their cleaners on a typical Salford round. We pay weekly because monthly is awful when you’re new and waiting on a first wage. We pay the same rate for Quays apartments and Worsley semis. Travel time between back-to-back jobs is paid where it’s our scheduling.
Getting around the patch
- ✓The Eccles Line of the Metrolink is the spine. It runs from town through Cornbrook, Exchange Quay, Salford Quays, Anchorage, Broadway, Weaste and Ladywell, then on-street to the Eccles terminus on Regent Street. The MediaCityUK stop sits on a short spur off that line, so if a tram terminates at Eccles you change at Harbour City for the Quays. Worth knowing on a wet morning.
- ✓Salford Quays parking is the borough’s main headache. The car park at Capital Quay takes a hundred-plus cars but fills early on BBC studio days. We give you a permit code where the client pays. If you’re cleaning at the Lowry end, the side streets behind the Imperial War Museum North are usually emptier than the Quays themselves.
- ✓For Worsley and Walkden rounds, a car helps. The Bridgewater Canal towpath is fine for a walk on a day off, but it doesn’t get you between two jobs.
- ✓Irlam and Cadishead (M44) are at the edge of the patch. We’ll only book you out there if it’s a multi-hour single visit, not a quick maintenance clean.
What we want from you
- ◆You’ve cleaned before, somewhere, for someone, in a way you can describe in one sentence.
- ◆You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. We can shuffle if we know.
- ◆You don’t ghost short-let bookings. Media City turnover days run on a timer and an empty flat at a one o’clock check-in costs the agent the booking.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, a personal statement.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Salford, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
