Tunbridge Wells is split between three rough housing belts and the cleaner’s day looks different in each one. Calverley Park and the streets off it are Decimus Burton villas and Georgian terraces, big rooms and original floors. The centre running off Mount Pleasant Road is mostly Victorian terraces converted to flats, often two or three to a house. Sherwood and the edges out toward Tunbridge Wells North are 1930s semis with the floor plan you’d expect. We are hiring part-time domestic cleaners in Tunbridge Wells at £13 to £15 an hour, paid weekly, on regular fortnightly rounds across TN1, TN2, TN3 and TN4.
That sentence is the answer most people came for. The rest is the small print.
The four postcodes and what’s actually in them
TN1 is the central core: the Pantiles, Mount Pleasant, Calverley Road, the streets behind Royal Victoria Place. A lot of this rota is flats above shops and converted Victorian houses, walkable from the station. TN2 stretches east and includes Pembury and a chunk of the more expensive Calverley Park itself, plus a band of family housing around Hawkenbury. TN3 is the village belt south and west, including Frant and Speldhurst, where the work is bigger detached houses with proper gardens, fewer of them per round, and more time on the road between jobs. TN4 covers Rusthall, Southborough and the High Brooms side, with a mix of Victorian cottages around the Common and post-war semi-detached up Speldhurst Road. The pay band reflects all of that, not a single property type.
What you’ll actually earn
£13 to £15 an hour. Where you sit on that band depends on round geometry and property type. A two-and-a-half-hour maintenance clean on a converted flat off Mount Pleasant Road sits at the lower end because we can usually fit three of those into a morning without wasting time between them. A four-hour clean on a Calverley Park villa or a Frant detached pays at the top of the band because the floor area is genuinely bigger and the round travel is real. We do not advertise "up to £15" and then never pay it. The Frant and Speldhurst rounds genuinely hit £15.

We pay weekly because monthly is annoying when you’re new and a first wage takes ages. For context, Hamuch lists Tunbridge Wells cleaners from £15 an hour as a customer-facing rate, and Maid2Clean’s TN1 page advertises a similar starting figure to clients; those are not what the cleaner takes home. Our band is the actual hourly figure paid to you.
Getting around
The TN1 and TN4 patches are mostly doable without a car. Tunbridge Wells station runs Southeastern’s Hastings line into London Charing Cross with the fast train scheduled at around 53 to 59 minutes, which means a lot of our clients commute and the morning slot from 9.30am onward is when most flats are empty. The Arriva 7 between Pembury Hospital and the town centre, and the 281 up to Sevenoaks, both stop on Mount Pleasant. If you live in Southborough or Rusthall, you can ride one stop on the bus or take the train one stop to High Brooms and walk in.
For the TN3 work in Frant and Speldhurst a car is sensible. The 254 covers Frant village but it is hourly and not quick. Speldhurst is barely served at all in the middle of the day. We will not put you on those rounds without a way to get there.
Parking and the centre
The borough operates resident permit zones across most of central Tunbridge Wells and the streets off Mount Pleasant. Visitor pressure peaks twice a month when the Pantiles farmers’ market runs on the first and third Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, plus the chess-board summer events that pull in day-trippers from London. We text you the day before if a round is going to coincide with a closure, and we give you a permit code for jobs where the client pays. Calverley Park has its own pedestrian access from Crescent Road and the Calverley Grounds bandstand side, which is worth knowing because the resident-only road access means the obvious drive-up doesn’t work for a non-resident car.
The clients we have
Roughly half of the regular work comes through individual households who book us direct. The rest comes through letting agents and a small number of small local landlords. Bracketts on Bayhall Road is the long-running independent that sends through end-of-tenancy bookings for the more established Calverley Park and Hawkenbury rentals. Wood & Pilcher cover a wider band including Rusthall and Southborough. Belvoir on Mount Pleasant Road sends the smaller TN1 flats. End-of-tenancy work pays at the upper end of the band because it is single-day, tight-window, and you cannot reschedule when keys are being handed over.
Who we are after
- ✓You have cleaned before, paid or seriously domestic. We are not training from zero on this round.
- ✓You can do at least three weekday mornings a week, ideally four, between roughly 9am and 2pm.
- ✓You text the night before if a job needs to move. Genuine rebooks we manage. No-shows we cannot.
- ✓You hold the right to work in the UK. We sort the paperwork on day one.
What we do not ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or references in triplicate.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Tunbridge-Wells, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
