If you’ve cleaned anywhere along Hoe Street or the High Street market end, you already know the borough’s rhythm. Stalls go up Tuesday to Saturday, the Victoria line spits people out at Walthamstow Central every 100 seconds, and most of our keys are within fifteen minutes of that one spot.
We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Waltham Forest at £14 to £16 an hour, paid weekly, on regular rounds through E4, E10, E11 and E17.
Where the rounds actually sit
About half of our Waltham Forest patch is Walthamstow itself, E17. That means the Victorian terraces around Walthamstow Village and the streets off Orford Road, plus a band of newer flats behind Walthamstow Central where the Wood Street and Highams Park rota crosses the Chingford branch of the Overground. Trains to Liverpool Street run every fifteen minutes; the Victoria line is the obvious one.
The Leyton and Leytonstone end (E10 and E11) is a different shape. More conversion flats above shops on Leyton High Road, more post-war estates around Lea Bridge Road, and a steady trickle of small end-of-tenancy slots booked through Central Estate Agents and Estates East, both of whom have branches in Walthamstow and Leyton. We get on with the Estates East team in particular because they don’t quibble over a sensible quote.
Chingford (E4) is the quiet end. Mock-Tudor semis around Chingford station, a few bigger houses backing onto Epping Forest, and the odd big clean on the Highams Park side. If you live up there you’ll know the trains to Liverpool Street stop at Chingford, Highams Park and Wood Street before they hit Walthamstow, so cleaners who live north of the borough pick up the E4 work most weeks.
Pay, the plain numbers
£14 an hour is the floor. £16 an hour is the ceiling. The rate inside that range depends on what the round is: regular maintenance cleans pay at the lower end, end-of-tenancy and after-builders pay at the top. The London Living Wage for 2025-26 is £14.80, which lands in the middle of our range and is roughly where most of our regular rota actually sits.

For an honest comparison: Cleaning at Home advertise £14.50 an hour for regular Walthamstow rounds. Cleaning Express list £14.80. We sit a touch above both because we want people to stay, and the part-time rota gives you predictable hours every week instead of a feast-or-famine pattern.
The Mini-Holland thing, and what it means for cleaners
Waltham Forest was the first London borough to roll out a full Mini-Holland scheme, with £30 million from TfL plus £15 million of council money. The practical effect on the rota is two things. First, several streets in Walthamstow Village and around Francis Road in Leyton are now Low Traffic Neighbourhoods with modal filters that block through-traffic. We tell you the morning before whether a job is a drive-and-walk-the-last-bit one or whether parking is straightforward. Second, the borough is unusually quick on a bike if that suits you, and several of our cleaners do shorter Walthamstow rounds on a bicycle without thinking about it.
Walthamstow Market is the longest outdoor street market in Europe, running roughly a kilometre along the High Street, Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm, with Saturday running to 5:30pm. Two of our regulars on the High Street side want their cleans done before the stalls go up, which means a 7:30am start two mornings a week. We try to give those rounds to people who actually want the early hours, not foist them on whoever’s new.
If you do drive, the borough is inside ULEZ. Most of our rota is reachable from the bus, the Victoria line, or the Overground, so a car isn’t a requirement.
What we want, and how to apply
You’ll have cleaned before, properly. Domestic experience or end-of-tenancy, either is fine, but we’re not training from scratch this round. You’ll send a text the night before if a job needs to move. That’s the rule we actually care about.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or a long form.
