If you’ve cleaned anywhere along the WD17/WD18 line you’ll already know the rhythm of this town: schools-out chaos at three, parking permits running till six on most central streets, and the Met line emptying out the last few stragglers around half-ten. We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Watford at £14 an hour, paid weekly by bank transfer, on regular fortnightly rounds spanning WD17, WD18, WD19, WD24 and WD25.
That’s the headline. Below is the small print and a few honest notes on what the work actually looks like in this borough.
Where the rounds actually are
Most of our Watford work sits in three rough clusters. There’s a block of regulars in the Edwardian terraces around Nascot Wood and the Cassiobury Park side of WD17, where the houses are bigger and the cleans tend to run two-and-a-half hours each. There’s a steadier mix of 1930s semis through Bushey and Oxhey down the south end, mostly two-bed kitchens-and-bathrooms maintenance work. And there’s a growing band of new-build flats around Watford Junction, including a handful at The Eight Gardens and the Junction Court block, where keys go through letting agents on the High Street.
The pay, plainly
£14 per hour. Weekly. Bank transfer every Friday, no agency fees taken off the top. We pay weekly because monthly is rough when you’re new and waiting for a first wage. Travel between same-day jobs in the same postcode area is paid at half-rate; jobs further out we either pair into a sensible run or skip.
What you’ll need to know about Watford specifically
Parking is the big one. Most of central Watford sits inside a controlled parking zone, with resident permits running £34 for the first car since June 2025, and visitor vouchers needed for almost any street within walking distance of the Harlequin (the shopping centre everyone still calls atria, although it switched back to Harlequin Watford in July 2025). On rounds where the client pays, we pass on the voucher code. On rounds where they don’t, you get told before the booking, not after.
If you don’t drive, you don’t have to. The Met line terminus is on the west side, Watford Junction handles the London Northwestern and Avanti West Coast services in from Euston, and the buses on St Albans Road cover almost everywhere we’re sending you. If you do drive, an estate car or anything with a hatchback makes life easier for kit and ladders.
What we’re after
- ✓Some real cleaning experience. Either domestic with proper hours behind it, or commercial. We’re not training from scratch this round.
- ✓You turn up. Poppies and Well Polished are the two big local outfits people compare us against, and the only thing all three of us actually compete on is showing up when we said we would.
- ✓A text the night before if a job needs to move.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork. We do it properly.

This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Watford, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
