Open the oven door in almost any London flat and the same two things stare back: a brown haze baked across the glass that no cloth will shift, and a grill pan gone grey and rough, because the water across most of the capital is genuinely hard. We sort both in one visit. Oven cleaning in London runs from £77 for a single oven, cleaned in a non-caustic dip-tank and ready to use the same day. The racks, trays and inner door glass drop into a heated tank in the van while we hand-clean the cavity, so there is no caustic reek and no afternoon with the windows open. Dinner goes back in the moment we pull away. Ring 0333 555 2076 for a firm price in about ninety seconds.

Last updated April 2026. We clean ovens right across Greater London, from the central EC and WC postcodes out through the inner boroughs and well into the suburbs, north of the river and south of it.

What an oven clean costs in London

Prices first, since that is what the phone rings about. A single oven is from £77. A double, the tall built-in sort with two cavities stacked one above the other, is from £110. A 90cm range cooker is from £114, and a two-oven AGA from £143. Tell us the cooker type and roughly how grim it has got, and you get a firm figure before the van leaves the depot.

The whole kit travels with us, so anything sat around the oven is cheaper bolted onto the same visit than booked on its own. A hob is £23 to £28, depending on whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. An extractor hood with its filter is £28. A microwave is £22. A good few customers add the hob and extractor on the day, once they clock how the grease shows next to a clean oven.

No call-out fee, and no surcharge for a central postcode, which is a question we field a lot. The price covers the products, the kit and the drive, and you pay on the day by card or bank transfer. You also get a receipt on company headed paper. That counts when a London letting agent wants proof the oven was done properly before a deposit goes back.

How we actually clean an oven

Most of the trade runs a dip-tank of some sort. What sorts a good clean from a poor one is the chemistry, the bits people skip, and whether the person doing it has done a handful of ovens or a few thousand. Ours have done the few thousand. Here is the order it runs in.

  1. The floor goes down and the worktop either side gets covered. The oven cools right down if it has been on that day.
  2. Everything that lifts out, lifts out. Racks, trays, runners, the fan cover, and the inner door glass. Modern doors have a removable inner pane, and the baked film hiding between the layers is the real reason an oven still looks dirty after you have scrubbed it raw. We unclip that pane. Most people never knew it came out.
  3. The removable parts go into a heated tank in the van, a non-caustic water-based degreaser held around 60C. Twenty to forty minutes in there shifts the lot: carbon, baked grease, the sugar glaze welded to a tray, the hard-water scale crusted round the grill pan.
  4. While they soak we work the cavity by hand. Enzyme degreaser on the walls, roof, floor and back panel, left to dwell so the chemistry does the lifting in place of your wrist. Then non-abrasive pads, detail brushes round the seal channel and the element, and a microfibre finish. The fan blade gets extra time, because that is where carbon does the lasting harm.
  5. Parts out, rinsed, dried, refitted. Door glass cleaned on both faces, gasket wiped, runners back in their slots. Exactly as we found it.
  6. A quick function test. Oven on, fan turning, handed back ready to cook on.

It is not glamorous work, and we have never pretended otherwise. It is the difference between an oven that looks a bit better and one that is genuinely clean down to the element, which is where the thing decides how long it lasts. Carbon caked on the fan is the commonest reason the rental ovens we meet at a London check-out have already packed up. A clean twice a year beats a new oven.

We have seen worse. Honestly.

Thames Water, limescale and your oven

London has a limescale problem, and ovens cop it as badly as kettles do. Thames Water supplies most of the capital, drawing it through the chalk and limestone of the Thames Valley, so what comes out of the tap is very hard, up around 250 to 350 parts per million of calcium carbonate depending on the zone. Every time steam off a roasting tin hits cold metal, a little more scale is left behind. Grill pans go cloudy, door glass films over, and the chrome on the racks turns dull and rough under your thumb.

Grease and scale together are stubborn in a way grease alone is not. A supermarket spray is built for the grease and slides straight over the scale, which is why so many London kitchens end up with an oven that smells clean but still looks tired. The dip-tank takes on both at once. The warm water-based solution lifts the carbon and the calcium deposits off the same tray in one soak, and the racks come out smooth again instead of gritty.

We are not here to sell you a softener. We are just saying that if you live in London, the scale is doing quiet damage to your oven on top of the grease, and a proper clean has to deal with the pair of them or it has not really done the job.

London kitchens and the ovens in them

You can almost date a London home by the cooker in it, and the capital throws up more variety than anywhere we work. In the Georgian and early-Victorian terraces of the centre and inner west, most long ago carved into flats, a single oven takes heavy weeknight use in a kitchen squeezed into what was once a back room. Push into the Victorian and Edwardian streets of the inner boroughs and it is much the same, terrace after terrace split into maisonettes, much of it inside conservation areas where ripping a kitchen out is simply not allowed.

Then there is the stock no other city has in this concentration. Around Clerkenwell and the EC1 fringe near our central patch, the old print works and light-industrial blocks were turned into loft flats from the 1990s on. The former Scholl shoe factory on St John Street is a good example, now apartments with integrated ovens tucked into open-plan kitchens that look easy to clean and are anything but. A few minutes south, the Barbican flats are famous for kitchens the architects placed at the back, windowless by design, with the eye-level oven that came as standard.

Post-war and ex-council estates run right across London, compact galley kitchens with one built-in oven that has fed a family hard for years. And along the river, from the old docks east to the newer developments west, flat after flat of glossy integrated ovens whose door glass clouds fast and whose racks tuck to the back wall. Whatever yours is, we have very likely cleaned its twin this week.

You can almost date a London home by the cooker in it.

Getting a van across London

Getting a dip-tank to your door is half the job in this city. Central London is the bit people worry about, so here is the straight version. Our central work sits inside both the Congestion Charge zone and the ULEZ, which between them run almost every day. We run charge-compliant vans and swallow those charges ourselves, so they never touch your quote. The van that turns up to clean your oven is not adding a penny for the zone it drives into.

Access is the other half. A lot of London oven work is up the stairs of a converted terrace or along an estate walkway, sometimes with a lift and sometimes without. The heavy tank stays in the van. We carry the racks, trays and door glass down to it and back, so we are not lugging the worst of the weight up four flights. If your block has a loading bay, a porter or a tight one-way street outside, tell us when you book.

Most of London is straightforward. The odd street is not.

What the price includes

Everything below is part of a standard oven clean, not an extra once we are through the door.

  • Full strip-down and reassembly of the oven.
  • Dip-tank clean of every removable part: racks, trays, side runners, fan cover, inner door glass, plus range trivets and burners where there are any.
  • Enzyme cavity clean of the walls, roof, floor, back panel, fan, element and seals.
  • Both faces of the inner and outer door glass.
  • Hinges and the seal gasket cleaned and checked.
  • Control knobs and the front panel wiped down.
  • A function test before we go, and same-day use, because nothing we use has to burn off.
  • All products, all kit, and the drive, charges included.

And the part that does not sit on a tidy list: a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee. If something is not right, flag it before the technician packs up and it gets put right on the spot. Spot it after we have gone and one phone call brings us back. It rarely comes to that, but the guarantee is there so you are not taking it on trust.

How booking works

It is a short phone call. Ring 0333 555 2076 and tell us the oven type, roughly how bad it is, any add-ons like the hob or extractor, your postcode and when suits you. We price it on the spot, usually inside two minutes, and book the slot. You can also email [email protected] if you would rather put it in writing.

Most London oven jobs land within three to five days, and same-day or next-day slots come up often midweek. Month-end is the busy patch, when move-out cleans stack up, so if you are cleaning for an inspection, give us a week where you can. On the day we turn up in a liveried van with the dip-tank aboard, and you are welcome to stay or head to work. Not sure how bad yours counts as? Send a photo of the inside over the phone and we quote it properly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does oven cleaning cost in London?

A single oven is from £77, a double from £110, and a 90cm range cooker from £114. A two-oven AGA is from £143. Add-ons booked on the same visit cost less: a hob is £23 to £28, an extractor hood £28, and a microwave £22. You get a firm figure on the phone first, so the price on the day is the price you agreed.

Which parts of London do you cover?

All of it, near enough. Our vans work the central EC and WC postcodes, north into Camden, Islington and Hackney, south of the river across Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth, and west out to Hammersmith, Ealing and Richmond. Ring with your postcode and we confirm the next free slot in seconds.

Can I use the oven the same day you clean it?

Yes, the moment we leave. The dip-tank is non-caustic and water-based, so there is nothing to burn off and no waiting around with the windows open. Dinner can go straight back in. In a sealed central London flat with no opening kitchen window, that matters more than people expect.

Why is limescale a problem on London ovens?

Thames Water draws most of the capital’s supply through the chalk and limestone of the Thames Valley, so it runs very hard, up around 250 to 350 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Steam off a roasting tin leaves scale on grill pans, door glass and the racks. We lift the scale as well as the grease, off the same tray, in one soak.

Do you clean ovens in flats with no lift or awkward access?

We do it most days. A fair slice of London oven work is up the stairs of a Georgian terrace carved into flats, or along an estate walkway. The dip-tank stays in the van and we carry the racks and door glass down to it, so we are not hauling heavy kit up four flights. Tell us the floor and the access when you book.

How long does an oven clean take?

A single oven is about 90 minutes. A double is closer to two hours, a 90cm range two to two and a half. A two-oven AGA can run to a half-day because of its size and the enamel. We give you a realistic time on the phone so you can plan the rest of the day around it.

Will the Congestion Charge or ULEZ affect my booking?

Not your bill. Our central work sits inside both the Congestion Charge zone and the ULEZ, and we run compliant vans, so those charges are ours to deal with, not yours. There is no call-out fee and no surcharge for a central postcode. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Is the method safe for the oven and the kitchen?

Yes. The tank is warm and water-based, held well below the heat that would warp metal or lift a coating, and the cavity products are enzyme-based and enamel-safe. Most of the real damage we meet in London ovens came from caustic soda spray stripping the enamel, or wire wool scratching the glass. We use neither.

Do you clean the racks, trays and door glass too?

Every part that lifts out comes out and goes in the dip-tank: racks, trays, side runners and the fan cover. We also split the door and clean between the panes, which is where the brown film you can never wipe away actually sits. It all goes back exactly as it came out.

Do you clean integrated and built-in ovens?

Yes, and a lot of London kitchens have them, from warehouse loft conversions to new riverside blocks. An integrated oven clouds at the glass and packs grease behind a fascia that has to come off carefully. We work around the cabinetry, clean it in place, and leave the units it sits in unmarked.

Do you clean self-cleaning or pyrolytic ovens?

Yes, and plenty of owners of them still book us. The pyrolytic cycle bakes the cavity to ash but leaves the door glass, the racks and the fan cover untouched, and it does nothing at all for the hob or the extractor. Most owners run the cycle now and then and have us in once a year for the rest.

Is Monster Cleaning a real, insured company?

Yes. We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House number 9919639, trading since 2014, with a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee on every job. Our Trustpilot sits at 3.1 out of 5 across 128 reviews, which we would rather show you straight than dress up. Insurance papers go to managing agents and landlords on request.
