Removals start at £65 for a single item or small load, £325 for a studio move and £520 for a two-bed home. You get an insured two-person crew, furniture taken apart and put back together, and packing or short-term storage if you need it. If you are moving out, we can clean the empty property the same day. We cover London, Liverpool and Manchester.
Monster Removals has shifted people’s lives across London, Liverpool and Manchester since 2014. Houses, flats, offices, single items, whole offices over a weekend. Two-man teams, proper vans, full Goods in Transit insurance, and the blankets and straps that vague phone promises usually leave out. A studio move starts at £250, and we will give you a firm quote on the phone in under three minutes. Ring 0333 555 2076, or read on, because a move is the one thing people regret rushing.
Last updated April 2026. Covering Greater London (all boroughs), Greater Liverpool, Greater Manchester, and long-distance moves across mainland UK.
Why most people underestimate their move
Everyone thinks their move will be simple. Everyone. Then the morning comes, and the wardrobe will not fit down the stairs, the lift in the new block is out of service, the sofa needs its legs off, and nobody worked out that you cannot park a Luton van on that road between 8am and 6pm on a weekday. That is roughly 80% of the calls we get. Someone started a DIY move at 9am and rang us by 11:30 sounding slightly broken.
A removals firm worth booking turns up having already checked the parking restrictions at both ends. It brings the right number of blankets for your furniture. It knows which ratchet strap to put on a flatpack unit and which to put on a solid oak dresser. And it has the nerve to tell you straight that your grand piano needs a specialist, then tell you who to ring. That is the job. It comes down to preparation, the right kit, and people who have done this enough times to see the problems coming before you do.
A move is the one thing people regret rushing.
What is included
Every removals booking comes with the van, the crew, fuel, blankets, straps, trolleys, and wardrobe boxes as needed, plus Goods in Transit insurance up to £50,000 per load as standard. No bolted-on extras for the normal things a move needs.
Home removals
- Studio flats, one-beds, family houses, period conversions with awkward staircases, sixth-floor walk-ups. We have done all of them and we will tell you honestly how long yours will take.
- Furniture dismantling and reassembly: beds, wardrobes, dining tables, and IKEA units of varying vintage and structural integrity.
- Floor protection at both ends. We put down runners so we are not dragging mud through a freshly cleaned house.
- Awkward items handled properly: pianos, large mirrors, marble tops, art, antique furniture. Declare them when booking so we bring the right kit.
- Carting away the mountain of cardboard afterwards, if you want us to. Most people do.
Office and commercial moves
- Evenings, weekends, out of hours. Moving your office during trading hours is nobody’s idea of a good time.
- Desks, chairs, pedestals, filing cabinets, server racks, phones and comms kit. Labelled, tracked, back in the right seat at the new place.
- IT-friendly handling. We will not disconnect your hardware, that is your IT team’s job, but we shift it safely once it is unplugged and reconnect the furniture.
- Coordination with building management at both ends: service lifts, loading-bay bookings, security sign-in, and certificates of insurance sent to managing agents ahead of time.
- Clear-down of the old space if you need it, with boxes gone, cables tied and floors swept.
Man-and-van and single items
Not every job is a whole house. Plenty are one thing that will not fit in a car.
- That Marketplace sofa bargain you cannot wedge into an Uber. Your mother’s dresser, going from Sevenoaks to your hallway. The gym kit that will not go up your new stairs.
- Man-and-van rate for single items, typically £50 to £90 within a borough depending on size and stairs.
- Two-man service for anything heavy, awkward, or needing dismantling first.
A single item or small load runs about one to two hours and starts at £65. If it is one heavy thing up four flights, say so when you ring, because that changes the crew we send.
Packing and storage
Packing service
Optional, and worth it more often than people expect. Packing the night before a move is the part that always overruns.

- Full pack-up the day before, using double-walled boxes, bubble wrap, paper fill, and glass-divider crates for crockery.
- Half-pack if you only want the kitchen and the fragile things done properly and you will handle the rest yourself.
- Unpacking at the other end is rarer, but we will do it if asked. Handy for elderly parents, or anyone moving on top of a life crisis.
Storage
- Short-term and long-term, in secure units in zones 3 and 4 of London and equivalent facilities in Manchester and Liverpool.
- By the week or by the month, inventoried at intake so nothing goes missing.
- Useful when completion dates do not line up and your furniture needs somewhere to sit for a fortnight that is not your sister’s garage.

The prices above assume the two addresses are a reasonable distance apart, roughly the same city or between neighbouring ones. Long-distance moves, say London to Manchester, are priced separately, usually on mileage plus crew time. We do not charge for stairs up to the second floor, but above that it is worth a mention when you book so we put the right size crew on it. Full pricing across all our services is on the prices page.
One thing worth saying out loud. The cheapest man-with-a-van quote on Gumtree is rarely the cheapest move you end up with. We have lost count of the rescue jobs where someone booked a £150 quote and paid three times that in the end, because the van was too small, the insurance did not exist, and a Victorian sideboard went down a flight of stairs on its side.
How booking works
- Ring 0333 555 2076. Tell us the pickup address, the drop-off address, roughly how much stuff, and the date you are hoping for. Quote in three minutes, usually on the first call.
- We lock in the date. Seven days a week. End-of-month Saturdays book up two to three weeks ahead, since it is the busiest day in UK moving by quite some distance, so ring early if yours falls then. Midweek moves are often cheaper and more flexible.
- Pre-move survey for bigger jobs. For anything three-bed or above we do a quick video walkthrough over WhatsApp or pop round in person. It keeps the quote accurate and heads off the “we did not realise you had a piano” conversation on the morning.
- Move day. The crew turns up in uniform, in a liveried van, with the kit it needs. Blankets on the furniture, runners on the floors, trolley out for anything heavy. We load, drive, unload, reassemble the furniture we took apart, and leave once you have walked through and confirmed everything is where you want it.
Worth sorting before the day
A few bits of advice from doing this a thousand times over.
- Declutter first. You are paying us by the hour in most cases, and it takes the same time to move a box of things you love as a box of things you will chuck in six months. The charity shops on your local high street will thank you.
- Parking suspensions. Most London councils let you suspend the parking bays outside your property for the day, usually on 48 hours’ notice, for about £30 to £60. Worth every penny. Without one you are gambling on street parking, which adds an hour to every move in zones 1 to 3.
- Essentials box. Kettle, mugs, teabags, loo roll, phone chargers, one change of clothes, the kids’ bedtime things. Pack it last, unload it first, label it clearly. You will thank yourself at 10pm.
- Tell the utilities. Your new energy supplier wants a final meter reading. Broadband activation needs booking two weeks out. Council tax needs updating or you will be billed at two properties for a month. Nobody reminds you to do these, and they all bite.
- Photograph the meter readings at both properties on moving day. Thirty seconds, and it saves an argument later.
The clean that goes with a move
Most moves come with a clean attached, and bundling the two onto one booking is cheaper and far less hassle than chasing two firms.
- End of tenancy cleaning
- If you are a tenant moving out, the move and the clean usually have to happen inside the same 24 hours. We coordinate both under one booking: move first thing, end of tenancy cleaning in the afternoon, keys back by the evening.
- Deep clean of the new place
- Booked for the day before you move in, so it is actually yours when you walk through the door. Much easier than a deep clean worked around your own furniture once it is all in.
- Carpet cleaning
- At either end. Landlords love it, and new tenants love walking into a place that smells right. Carpet cleaning is oddly cost-effective as an add-on when we are there anyway.
- Oven cleaning
- On the property you are leaving. The oven is the single biggest reason tenants lose deposit money, so get oven cleaning sorted properly.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book my removal?
For a weekday move, one to two weeks is usually plenty. For an end-of-month Saturday, book three to four weeks out if you can. That last Saturday is by far the busiest day in the UK moving calendar, and we routinely turn away last-minute requests for it. If your date is flexible, a mid-month Tuesday or Wednesday morning is the cheapest slot we run.
Are my things insured during the move?
Yes. Standard Goods in Transit insurance covers up to £50,000 per load, which is enough for the vast majority of household moves. For higher-value items such as fine art, antiques or a specialist musical instrument, we can arrange a higher level of cover. Declare those items when you book so we quote the right level.
Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables, desks, flatpack units. If we took it apart, we put it back together at the other end, and that is included in the hourly rate. For anything unusual, such as a fitted wardrobe that has to come off the wall or a solid-oak table with hidden fixings, tell us when you book so we bring the right tools.
Can you move on the same day I am cleaning?
Yes. We do this constantly for tenants coming out of a rental. The move runs first thing in the morning, the cleaning crew arrives around lunchtime once the flat is empty, and the keys go back to the agent by the evening. One booking, one point of contact, both jobs done.
What if you cannot park outside my property?
If there is no legal parking within a reasonable distance, we find the closest spot and use trolleys and hand-carries for the rest. Moves from flats on red routes, pedestrianised streets, or permit-only zones without a suspension run a bit slower, and we flag that in the quote. A council parking suspension usually solves it for £30 to £60 and is worth applying for.

Do you do long-distance moves?
Yes. London to Manchester, Liverpool to Brighton, Edinburgh to Bristol. We have done all of them. Long-distance pricing is based on mileage plus crew time, with an overnight built in for anything that cannot be done in a single day. Ring for a bespoke quote rather than reading off the table above.
What about packing materials?
They are included in the packing service. If you are packing yourself, we drop off boxes, tape and bubble wrap in advance at cost, usually five to ten days before the move. Standard double-walled boxes are £3 each. Glass-divider crates for kitchens are £6 and come back to us afterwards, so they are effectively free on a fully booked job.
Do you move pianos, pool tables and safes?
Uprights and smaller digital pianos, yes. Grand pianos, large pool tables and safes over around 200kg need specialist piano or heavy-goods movers, and we will happily recommend a couple we have worked alongside. We would rather tell you upfront than wing it and cause damage.
Is the company insured and registered?
Yes. Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House number 9919639. Goods in Transit cover, £5 million public liability, £10 million employer’s liability. Paperwork is available on request. For an office move we can forward certificates to building management and managing agents ahead of the day.
What happens if something gets damaged?
If it is our fault, we sort it. That is what the insurance is for. We photograph high-value items at load and unload as a matter of course, so there is no ambiguity if something does go wrong. In twelve years of moves the damage rate is well under 1%, and when it does happen the claim runs clean and fast.
What areas do you cover for removals?
All of Greater London, Greater Liverpool, Greater Manchester, and long-distance work across mainland UK. Ring 0333 555 2076 with your pickup and drop-off postcodes and we will confirm.
