Liverpool tap water is soft, straight off the Welsh and Lake District reservoirs, so the limescale that wrecks taps and shower screens down south barely gets a look-in here. That changes what a good home clean in this city actually involves, and it is one of the first things our cleaners notice when they move up from a London round.

Two services, not one rate
People ring up asking for “a cleaner” and mean one of two quite different things, so it helps to split them early.
The first is a recurring clean. You keep the same cleaner on your home, week in, week out, and they get to know the place: which radiator the cat sleeps behind, that the spare-room door sticks, which cupboard the bins liners live in. That continuity is the whole point of a regular round, and it is why we do not rotate strangers through your hallway. It is charged at a flat hourly rate per cleaner. There is no VAT to add and no call-out charge, so the number we quote is the number you pay.
The second is a one-off clean. Different service entirely. This one we send as a team, usually two cleaners for about three hours, because a deep reset of a whole flat in one hit is heavy going for a single pair of hands. People book it before guests arrive, after a party, when a relative is coming out of hospital, or for the seasonal blitz that a weekly round does not stretch to. It is priced on its own and booked on its own, separate from any regular arrangement.

If you want both, that is common. Plenty of Liverpool clients start with a one-off to get the flat back to scratch, then drop onto a fortnightly round to keep it there. The two services just sit side by side on your account.
What it costs in Liverpool
Here are the actual numbers. One flat hourly rate per cleaner for each service, no mystery surcharges, no buy-in-bulk gimmicks.
A recurring weekly clean is £22 per cleaner per hour. Go fortnightly and it is £24 per cleaner per hour, the small bump reflecting that a home gathers a fortnight of dust rather than a week of it. So a three-hour weekly visit, which is what most homes settle on, comes to £66. A fortnightly visit usually runs two to three hours, which lands at £48–£72 depending on the size of the place and how much you want done.
The one-off team clean is £26 per cleaner per hour, with a £67 minimum charge. A typical booking of two cleaners for three hours is therefore a fair bit more than a single weekly visit, which is right, because you are getting roughly six cleaner-hours of deep work in one go rather than three of maintenance.
Ironing, if you want it, is £12 per hour on top of the cleaning time. We just leave enough of the booked hours for the pile.
What a clean covers
A regular visit is the maintenance stuff that keeps a home liveable. Kitchens wiped down, hob and splashback degreased, sink scrubbed, bins out. Bathrooms done properly: loo, basin, bath, shower screen, taps, mirror, floor. Through the rest of the flat it is dusting, vacuuming, mopping hard floors, beds changed if you leave the linen out, and a tidy of the surfaces you point us at.
Because the water here is soft, the bathroom job is genuinely different from what our cleaners are used to in the South East. There is far less scale on the taps and glass, so a wipe and a buff usually does it rather than a long soak and scrape. United Utilities, who supply the city, classify North West water as soft, drawn from upland reservoirs. What it does mean is that soap film and body-fat residue build up faster on shower trays, so that is where the elbow grease goes instead.
A one-off team clean goes deeper. Inside the kitchen cupboards if they are empty enough, behind and under the white goods where they can be pulled out, skirting boards, door frames, light switches, window sills, the tops of things people forget, and a serious go at the oven and bathroom. Working around Liverpool
Liverpool’s housing is a real mix, and the clean changes with it. Up in the Georgian Quarter, around Rodney Street and Hope Street, you get those tall period terraces carved into flats, with high ceilings, deep skirting and a lot of stairs, which honestly slows a clean down and we budget the hours accordingly. Over in the Ropewalks and the Baltic Triangle it is converted warehouses and newer blocks: open-plan, big windows, polished concrete or engineered wood, where the dust shows but the layout is quick to get round. Further out you are into the terraced streets, and those have their own quirks, usually a galley kitchen and a bathroom tucked off the back.
Parking is the bit that catches new clients out. The city-centre controlled parking zone runs long hours now, and a resident’s permit in the Business Quarter only covers you outside the working day. Liverpool City Council spell this out: city-centre resident permits are valid 5pm to 9am on weekdays and all day at weekends, with paid parking in between. So for a daytime clean in L1 the cleaner is usually coming in on Merseyrail or the bus, not parking outside. That is fine, and it is why we ask up front whether there is a loading spot or whether it is a walk from the station.

On transport, most of our central rounds are an easy reach of Liverpool Central, which sits between Ranelagh Street and Bold Street and carries both the Northern and Wirral lines, or of Lime Street and James Street. If you are out towards the suburbs the buses do the work. None of this matters to you directly, but it is why a cleaner can get to a city-centre flat on time without a car, and why we can keep a round running even when the council tightens the parking again.
It rains here. We plan for wet floors and muddy hallways in winter, especially the tiled vestibules on the older terraces, and we keep a separate cloth for the entrance so the grit from the step does not get walked through the whole flat.

Do you bring your own cleaning products and equipment?
We bring cloths, sprays and the usual kit as standard. If you would rather we used your own products, say a particular brand for a stone worktop or a pet-safe spray, leave them out and we will use those instead. For a recurring round most clients keep a vacuum at home and we use that to save lugging one up the stairs.
Can you do ironing as well?
Yes. Ironing is an add-on at £12 per hour on top of the cleaning time. Plenty of our Liverpool clients book the cleaner for three hours and use the last hour on a shirt pile. Tell us roughly how much there usually is and we will leave enough time for it.

Tell us within 24 hours and we will come back and put it right at no extra cost. That is our re-clean guarantee, and it applies to both the recurring round and the one-off. We would rather send someone back than argue about it. It does not happen often, but the promise stands.
Do I have to be home while you clean?
No. Most recurring clients give their cleaner a key or a smart-lock code once the round is settled in, which is handy when you are at work. For a first one-off clean people often prefer to be in for the start, let the team in, then go out. Whatever suits you.
How much notice do you need, and can I skip a week?
A few days is usually enough to start a recurring round, sometimes sooner. You can skip a week if you are away, just give us notice so the cleaner can be booked elsewhere. One-off cleans we try to fit within the week, and around bank holidays we book up faster, so ask early.
