If you’ve cleaned anywhere along the 326 bus spine between Brent Cross and Barnet Spires, you already know the borough’s two halves: the long Northern-line tail through Finchley Central, West Finchley and Totteridge, and the National Rail run from New Barnet down to Mill Hill Broadway. We work both ends.
We’re hiring domestic cleaners in Barnet at £14.20 an hour, paid weekly by bank transfer, on regular fortnightly rounds across EN4, EN5, N12, N20 and NW11.

What the work actually looks like
Most rounds are maintenance cleans in private houses and flats, a few small offices around High Barnet and Whetstone, and a steady trickle of end-of-tenancy slots booked through letting agents on the high street, including Statons Premier Lettings on Hadley Green and Glentree Estates around Hampstead Garden Suburb. Barnet has the lot housing-wise: the older terraces around East Finchley and Muswell Hill, the bigger detached houses in Hadley Wood and Mill Hill, the Suburb’s listed cottages where you do not bring a steam mop near original timberwork, and the Colindale and Hendon new-builds where you basically wipe glass for an hour.
Pay
£14.20 an hour. Weekly bank transfer, every Friday. Self-employed or PAYE, your call.
For context, Housekeep’s Barnet listing on Reed sits at £13 to £14.65 per hour, and Maid2Clean charges customers around £18 per hour for regular weekly cleans in Barnet, of which the cleaner sees a chunk. Our £14.20 is honest outer-zone money. It’s below the £14.80 London Living Wage rate because Barnet is outer-London and the maths don’t quite stretch to inner-zone pay across an EN4 to NW11 rota, but it is consistent and weekly and we don’t muck about with it.
Barnet things you’ll learn quickly
The whole borough has been inside the ULEZ since 29 August 2023, so the £12.50 daily charge applies on every workday for non-compliant cars. An older diesel will eat your wages in a fortnight. If you don’t drive, that’s genuinely fine here: the Northern line’s two northern branches both terminate in the borough, the High Barnet branch runs through Totteridge & Whetstone, Woodside Park, West Finchley and Finchley Central, and the Mill Hill East single-station branch runs roughly every 30 minutes. National Rail at New Barnet, Oakleigh Park, Hadley Wood and Mill Hill Broadway covers the bits the tube doesn’t, and the 326, 263, 134 and 384 buses join most of it together.
Parking is the awkward bit. There’s the standard borough-wide CPZ patchwork, and Barnet rolled out the new Brent Cross experimental CPZs (the UC4 / Zone BA extension and the UC5 / GG zone) on 15 December 2025, with controlled hours 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday. Visitor permits are virtual at £2.50 a day or scratchcards at £3 each in books. Where a client pays for parking we send the permit code the morning of the job. Where a job is a five-minute walk from Hendon Central or East Finchley we will tell you straight rather than have you circling.
One last Barnet quirk worth knowing: the council runs a dedicated Pesach collection service across NW11, NW4 and HA8 in late March / early April for Hampstead Garden Suburb, Golders Green, Hendon and Edgware. End-of-tenancy work in those wards spikes a bit before and after Passover, so we tend to brief cleaners on the Pesach week separately.
What we want from you
You’ll have cleaned before, properly. Professional, or serious domestic over a long stretch. We are not training from zero on this round.
- ✓Turn up. We picked up rounds last summer from a small north-Barnet operator who kept missing morning slots and we are not going to be the next one with that reputation.
- ✓Text the night before if a job needs to move. That is the one hard rule.
- ✓Tell us straight if a postcode is a pain to reach, so we can rota you something sensible rather than send you across the borough at rush hour.
