Most of our Bexley rota sits along the Bexleyheath line, between Welling and Crayford, with a second cluster down in Sidcup around the high street. The work is mainly suburban semis off the A2 and A207, a steady run of new-build flats behind Broadway Shopping Centre, and a fortnightly book of end-of-tenancy slots passed to us by Hunters and Harpers & Co. We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Bexley at £14 an hour, paid weekly, working DA5, DA6, DA7, DA14, DA15, DA16 and DA17 on regular fortnightly rounds.
That’s the headline. The rest is the small print and an honest read on the borough.
What you’d actually be cleaning
Bexley is suburban outer London. The houses are larger than inner-zone flats and tend to take longer per visit, but you almost always get parking outside the front door. Bexleyheath itself is mid-century housing wrapped around the Broadway, with newer apartment blocks behind the shopping centre off Albion Road. Sidcup has older Edwardian semis around Station Road and a mass of 1930s stock running south toward Foots Cray. Welling is mostly post-war semis off Bellegrove and Wickham Street. We do almost no commercial work in this borough; it’s domestic regulars and end-of-tenancy.
End-of-tenancy referrals come in from Harpers & Co on Pickford Lane and Hunters on Broadway, plus Village Estates in Bexley Village and Sidcup. Roughly four EOT slots a month at the busy times, less in January.
Pay, in plain pounds
£14 an hour. Weekly bank transfer, every Friday for the previous week’s work. We don’t pay monthly because monthly is rough on anyone new and waiting on a first wage. £14 sits a little under the London Living Wage 2025-26 figure of £14.80, which is the inner-London rate; outer-London cleaning typically pays £13-£14 and we’re at the top of that band. For context, Well Polished charges Bexley clients £16.95 an hour for the kind of regular domestic visit you’d cover, and Cleaning Express advertises around £13.85 to clients across south-east London. The cleaner’s cut on those agency rates is well below ours.
Two-hour minimum visit. Mileage is paid for any client outside walking distance of an Overground or rail station you’d realistically use.
Trains, buses, and the train-replacement bus problem
If you don’t drive, Bexleyheath, Welling, Sidcup, Crayford and Bexley Village are all walkable from their stations and most of our rota is reachable that way. The catch is that Southeastern’s Bexleyheath line gets engineering closures more often than the average London commute. The line was shut for a planned weekend block on 7-8 March 2026 with rail-replacement buses running between New Cross and Dartford, and there were earlier closures across January 2026 and through 2025; that pattern repeats once or twice a quarter. We watch the Network Rail schedule and won’t book first-visit jobs on a known-closed weekend if you don’t drive.
The 301 bus links Abbey Wood Elizabeth line station to Bexleyheath, so anyone living near the Crossrail spine can get out to most of our rota without a car. Crayford has its own line straight into Charing Cross via Sidcup or via Bexleyheath; the Sidcup loop is the more reliable of the two during engineering blocks because it hits the Dartford loop a different way.
Cars are easier here than in zone-1 London. Most streets are uncontrolled, but Bexley Council has been rolling out new CPZs around Belvedere Station, Slade Green and West Heath in 2024-25 to stop Elizabeth-line commuter parking spilling into residential roads. Where a job sits inside a CPZ, the client pays for a visitor scratchcard (£25 a book of ten through Bexley Council) and we pass that on. The borough still uses paper scratch cards rather than virtual visitor permits, which is annoying but not your problem.
What we want from you
- ✓Cleaning experience already, professionally or seriously domestically. We’re not training a cleaner from zero on this round.
- ✓You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. Same-day cancellations cost the client and us; we don’t repeat them.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork before your first shift. Passport or share code is fine.
- ✓If you drive, an MOT-current car. We’re not strict on age, but Bexley is not in ULEZ so you don’t need an emissions-compliant one for the borough itself.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or a long form.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Bexley, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
