Croydon is the only London borough where most of our cleaners catch a tram to work. Tramlink is the only operational tram network in London, and after a fortnight on a Croydon rota you stop bothering with bus apps and just learn the tram timetable cold.
We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Croydon at £14 an hour, paid weekly, on fortnightly rounds covering CR0, CR2, CR7, CR8 and SE25.
That is the role in one sentence.
The shape of a Croydon round
Croydon’s housing stock is mixed. We split the rota across four broad clusters and your shifts will usually sit inside one of them.
- ✓The town centre: high-rise flats off Wellesley Road and around the Croydon flyover, plus newer blocks behind East Croydon and the rental-heavy buildings near Boxpark. Quick clean-and-go work.
- ✓The Thornton Heath and South Norwood Victorian terraces, CR7 and SE25. Long ground-floor flats, often with original hallway tiles. Slower work.
- ✓The 1930s semis around Purley and Coulsdon, CR8 and CR5. Bigger jobs by square footage. Older clients, tip in cash if you do the kitchen properly.
- ✓New Addington, the post-war estate at the end of the tram line. Small but steady rota, and the only part of the borough where the tram is genuinely the only sensible way in.
Pay, plain numbers
£14 an hour. Bank transfer, every Friday, for the previous week’s hours.

Those are client rates with the agency margin still inside, not what the cleaner takes home. Our £14 is what lands in your account, because we don’t deduct booking fees, training fees or admin fees.
No surcharges on short visits. A two-hour clean is two hours at £14.
The tram quirk
If you’ve never worked a tram-dependent rota, two things will catch you out.
The Sandilands junction has had repeated track-renewal closures since the 2016 derailment investigation, including a two-week shutdown of the eastern half of the network from 11 to 25 February 2026 covering Sandilands, Gravel Hill and the run out to New Addington. We watch the engineering notices and we will not book you on a closure-window clean without telling you which replacement bus to use.
Frequency drops too. The Wimbledon-to-Beckenham line falls to fifteen-minute Sunday running, and the New Addington branch goes the same way late evening.
Parking and the letting-agent rota
Most Croydon CPZs run 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, with the Central Permit Zone wrapping the town centre and policed harder than the rest. Where a client pays for parking we send the permit code on the morning. Where a job is genuinely better as a walk from West Croydon or the Reeves Corner tram stop, we will tell you that rather than have you driving laps around Wellesley Road.
A steady share of our rota is end-of-tenancy work booked by named letting agents along the high street and in Purley: Streets Ahead in central Croydon, Paul O’Shea across South Croydon and Coulsdon, David Bright Estates on the Purley end, and Sandra Davidson. Briefs from these agencies are tight on oven, hob, fridge interior and grouting.
Surrey Street Market, 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and closed Sundays, is the usual Thursday lunch stop between cleans for anyone working the central cluster.
What we want from you
You’ll have cleaned before. Properly.
We are not training from a standing start on this part-time round, because the part-time slots fill awkward gaps in the rota and we need someone who can walk into a job cold. You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. That is the rule we genuinely care about. Bring photo ID and a recent utility bill so we can do right-to-work properly.
No CV. No covering letter.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Croydon, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
