Our Lambeth rota stretches the length of the 159 bus, from Streatham Station up through Streatham Hill, Brixton and Kennington toward Westminster. That bus and the Victoria line between Brixton, Stockwell and Vauxhall are how most of our cleaners actually move around the borough.
We’re hiring domestic cleaners in Lambeth at £14.80 an hour, paid weekly, on fortnightly rounds across SW2, SW4, SW9 and SE postcodes between Kennington and West Norwood.

Where the rounds sit
The work mix is mostly maintenance cleans in private flats around Brixton Hill, Clapham High Street, Streatham High Road and the streets behind Herne Hill station. We pick up a steady run of end-of-tenancy slots booked through letting agents on Atlantic Road and Acre Lane, including Foxtons Brixton on the Acre Lane end, and a small handful of office cleans behind Brixton Market.
Almost no commercial contract work in this borough. We don’t chase it.
Pay, and why we keep it simple
£14.80 an hour. That’s the London Living Wage rate for 2025–26. Bank transfer, every Friday, for the previous week’s hours. We pay weekly because monthly is brutal when you’re new and rent is due.
To put it in context: Diamond Home Support’s Lambeth franchise advertises £13–£13.50 an hour locally, and a fair number of Indeed and Reed Lambeth ads sit in that same band. We pay above the local market because we’d rather pay properly and keep cleaners than spend half the year hiring.
No surcharge games. A two-hour visit is two hours at £14.80.
Selective licensing, the bit that actually matters
Lambeth went borough-wide on selective licensing on 1 September 2025. It now covers 23 of the 25 wards (everything except Vauxhall and Waterloo & South Bank), which means landlords on most of our rounds need a licence to legally let, the licence costs £1,025 from April 2026, and unlicensed letting carries fines up to £30,000 per property ([per Lambeth Council](https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/housing/landlords-licensing/selective-licensing-scheme)).
What that means in practice: end-of-tenancy briefs are tighter than they used to be. Landlords across Brixton, Clapham, Streatham, Stockwell, Kennington and Herne Hill are under formal scrutiny on housing standards and they want the place handed back properly. Good for us. Slightly more pressure on you.
Lambeth-specific things you’ll learn fast
The CPZ patchwork in Lambeth is the awkward bit. Streatham and Brixton are mostly controlled in working hours; the Kennington and Oval CPZs run longer; visitor permits are scarce at certain hours along Brixton Road. Where a client pays for parking, we send the permit code the morning of the job. If a job is genuinely better as a walk from Brixton or Stockwell tube, we’ll tell you straight rather than have you circling around Coldharbour Lane.
The whole borough has been inside the ULEZ since the original 2021 expansion, so an older diesel will eat your wages quicker here than in Croydon or Bromley. If you don’t drive, that is genuinely fine. The 35 from Clapham Junction to Shoreditch, the 109 from Croydon up through Brixton, the 137 from Streatham Hill to Marble Arch and the 159 spine cover almost every postcode in our rota, and Brixton-to-Vauxhall is six minutes on the Victoria line at any hour.
What we want from you, and what we don’t ask for
- ✓You’ve cleaned before, professionally or seriously domestically. Not training from zero on this round.
- ✓You’ll turn up. The end-of-tenancy market here got more demanding when the licensing scheme came in, and we are not going to be the agency that misses inspections.
- ✓Text the night before if a job needs to move.
- ✓Right-to-work paperwork at the meeting. ID and a recent utility bill is enough.
What we don’t ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or a long online form.
This role staffs our domestic cleaning in Lambeth, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning and oven cleaning rounds, so there is steady local work all year.
