Haringey is a long borough north-to-south, and our rota tracks that shape: a Crouch End and Muswell Hill cluster in the west around N8 and N6, a thinner band through Hornsey and Harringay along the Piccadilly line, and a busier Tottenham and Wood Green patch in the east covering N15, N17 and N22.
We’re hiring domestic cleaners across Haringey at £14 to £15 an hour, paid weekly by Friday bank transfer, on regular fortnightly rounds.
That’s the headline. The rest is the small print and a few honest notes about what the work is actually like in this borough.
The work and the patch
Most of our Haringey rounds are maintenance cleans in private flats. There is a steady run of converted Victorian terraces around the Crouch End clock tower at the top of the Broadway, a cluster of newer flats behind Wood Green high street, a handful of weekly visits in the older estates around Tottenham High Road, and two or three end-of-tenancy slots a month coming in through letting agents on Crouch End Broadway, including Winkworth Crouch End and Hunters down the road. We do not do commercial contract cleaning here. A couple of small offices off Wood Green High Road and that is it for non-domestic.
Pay and how it works
The base rate is £14 an hour. £15 if a job runs less than two hours total or sits on a Sunday. That’s a deliberate short-shift premium because two-hour jobs eat travel time. The headline £14 is comfortably above the National Living Wage of £11.44 and sits just below the London Living Wage of £14.80 — we’re honest about that. A regular three-hour round is £42 in your hand the same week.
Bank transfer, every Friday, for the previous week’s hours. Self-employed or PAYE, your choice. We pay weekly because monthly is awful when you’re new and waiting on a first wage. It’s not complicated.
Haringey-specific things you’ll learn fast
The CPZs in this borough are confusing in a way that catches new cleaners out, because the hours vary by zone code. Wood Green Inner (WG) runs Monday to Sunday, 8am to 10pm, which is unusually long for London. Crouch End (CEA) only runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 12 noon — a strange two-hour window. Hornsey South (HS) is Monday to Friday, 11am to 1pm. We send the right zone code and the right time on the morning of. If a job is a walk from the bus stop, we say so up front.
Two transport notes worth knowing. The Piccadilly line runs through Manor House, Turnpike Lane and Wood Green; the Victoria line stops at Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale; and the gap between Seven Sisters and Finsbury Park is the longest stretch of deep-tube on the network, which means the train sails through that bit. National Rail at Hornsey or Alexandra Palace is useful if you live further out toward New Southgate or Bowes Park. The W3 bus runs Finsbury Park to Northumberland Park through Wood Green; the W7 runs Finsbury Park to Muswell Hill through Crouch End Broadway every six minutes most of the day. Buses 41 and 29 cover the Tottenham High Road spine.
Tottenham Hotspur match days are their own animal. The event-day CPZ kicks in across N17, Love Lane and Whitehall Street parking bays get suspended, and roads near the stadium go one-way for an hour or two after the final whistle. We don’t book new jobs in N17 on confirmed home-fixture afternoons — it isn’t worth the aggravation for you or the client.
Driving: Haringey sits inside the London-wide ULEZ since the August 2023 expansion, so the £12.50 daily charge applies if your car is non-compliant. Most of our rota is reachable by bus or tube without driving.
