Cleaner – Barking and Dagenham, IG11 / RM8 / RM9 / RM10
£14 per hour, paid weekly. Self-employed or PAYE.
Monster Cleaning is hiring domestic cleaners across Barking and Dagenham at £14 an hour, paid weekly, on regular rounds covering IG11, RM8, RM9 and RM10.
Most of our Barking and Dagenham work sits along the District line spine – Upney, Becontree, Dagenham Heathway, Dagenham East – with a smaller cluster off the Hammersmith and City stops at Becontree and Upney, and the Overground at Barking. If you’ve cleaned anywhere along the A13 corridor you’ll recognise the housing stock: a lot of three-bed semis on the Becontree estate (the council estate built from 1921, with around 27,000 homes across roughly four square miles, so almost every postcode in RM8 or RM9 has at least one of our clients on it), a band of newer flats around Barking town centre, and pockets of converted Victorian terraces near Chadwell Heath station.
What the work is
Maintenance cleans in private homes, mostly weekly or fortnightly, two-hour minimum visits. A handful of small offices off East Street in Barking. Two or three end-of-tenancy slots a month booked through letting agents on Station Parade – Bairstow Eves at IG11 8EA being the regular one, and an independent called James Foss further along – both of whom turn around private-rented stock fast under the council’s borough-wide Selective Licensing scheme that started on 6 April 2025.
£14 an hour. Bank transfer, every Friday. We pay weekly because monthly is annoying when you’ve only just started.
Getting around the borough
If you don’t drive, you don’t need to. The 5, 87 and 287 buses cover most of our rota between Barking station and Dagenham Sunday Market end of Heathway, and the District line gets you anywhere east of Bow Road in under twenty minutes. If you do drive, mind the new Controlled Parking Zone – a fresh CPZ rolled out across several borough areas in 2025, with one zone going live on 23 June 2025 and more behind it, so the parking rules on a given street might be three months old. We give you a permit code where the client pays for it. ULEZ covers the whole borough now, so a low-emission car is sensible.
