Hillingdon is a long borough. Northwood and Ruislip sit at the top, Uxbridge is in the middle, and the bottom edge runs along the Heathrow perimeter through West Drayton and Hayes. A round here covers more ground than any other London borough we work in, so we plan rotas around the trains, not around the M25.

We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners across Hillingdon at £14 an hour, paid weekly, on fortnightly rounds across UB3, UB4, UB7, UB8, UB10, HA4, HA5 and HA6.

That’s the short version. Below is what the work actually looks like in this corner of west London.

The shape of a Hillingdon round

Most of our regular slots fall into one of three bands. The Ruislip and Northwood band, where you’re cleaning 1930s mock-Tudor semis and the larger detached stock around Eastcote Park Estate; the Uxbridge band, mostly the modern flats behind The Pavilions shopping centre and the older terraces sloping down towards Cowley; and the Hayes/West Drayton band, where the work is a mix of post-war estate housing and the new-build blocks that have gone up around the Elizabeth line stations. We don’t ask anyone to cover the whole thing in a week. Most cleaners take one band and stick to it.

End-of-tenancy work comes through the letting-agent cluster on Uxbridge High Street, mainly Allday & Miller who have offices on Uxbridge High Street, Ruislip Manor and the Uxbridge Road in Hayes, plus Andrews Residential and Lakin & Co for the Ickenham and Ruislip side. We pick up two or three EOT slots a month from them between us. Steady, not flooding.

The Heathrow factor

This is the unusual bit about cleaning in Hillingdon. A real chunk of the borough’s residents work shifts at the airport, which means kitchens that need doing at 11am after a 4am alarm, and clients on rolling rotas who reschedule us round their own roster. If you’ve ever lived with shift work, you’ll find Hillingdon homes easier than central London ones. Quieter during the day, often empty during a clean.

Practical detail. The first Elizabeth line train from Hayes & Harlington to Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 leaves at 07:06 on weekdays and the run is eight minutes. Uxbridge tube station is the joint Metropolitan and Piccadilly terminus, with the first Piccadilly service at 06:20 Monday to Friday. If you live anywhere along those lines you can make a 9am Hillingdon start without driving.

Pay

£14 an hour, banked every Friday for the previous week. Self-employed or PAYE, your call. The rate is above the National Living Wage of £12.21 and a touch under the London Living Wage at £14.80 for 2025–26. We’re not pretending it’s the City. We pay it on a Friday because monthly is awful when you’re new and rent is on the first.

Friday wages, every week.

Parking, the council, and getting around

Hillingdon’s CPZs are run by APCOA on the council’s behalf. The zones you’ll meet most are U6 around Uxbridge town centre, HY10 in Hayes, WR around West Ruislip station, and NWH in Northwood Hills. Most operate Monday to Saturday 8am to 6.30pm. The penalty rates went up across all 33 London authorities on 7 April 2025, so we don’t take chances. Where a client pays for parking we send a permit code; where there’s no permit, we pick the closest free street and tell you in advance how far the walk is. The borough sits outside the ULEZ, which is the one thing that makes a non-electric car genuinely cheap to run here, unlike the inner boroughs.

If you don’t drive, the rota plans around the U1 to U10 local bus network, the Met line to Ruislip and Eastcote, the Piccadilly to Uxbridge, and the Elizabeth line through Hayes & Harlington and West Drayton. Brunel University halls in Cowley, Ruislip Lido up near the Woods nature reserve, and the Grand Union Canal towpath through Yiewsley are all useful waypoints when a client gives directions.

What we want

  • You’ve cleaned before. Properly. Domestic, hotel, end-of-tenancy, hospital, doesn’t matter, but not your first day in the trade.
  • You’ll show up. Maid2Clean’s Uxbridge branch charges clients £17.90 an hour and still struggles to staff the area. We do not want to be that operator.
  • You’ll text the night before if a slot has to move.
  • Right-to-work paperwork done before the first shift. ID and a recent utility bill is enough.

Apply

Message the number on this page with your name, the postcode you live in, and one sentence on where you’ve cleaned before. We reply inside 48 hours. If we want to meet, we meet on a weekday morning near Uxbridge station and you bring your ID. No CV, no covering letter, no online form to fight with.

If Hillingdon is awkward for your commute, see our open rounds in Ealing and around West Ealing instead.
