Kingston town centre is the busiest part of our rota. The Bentall Centre sits on one side of Clarence Street, the Ancient Market Place sits on the other, and a few hundred flats and houses fill the streets between and around them in KT1 and KT2. Most weeks, two of us are working that core square at the same time.
We’re hiring part-time domestic cleaners in Kingston upon Thames at £14 an hour, paid weekly, on fortnightly rounds across KT1, KT2, KT3 and KT9.
That answers the obvious question.
Where the work actually is
The rota splits across five rough patches and you’ll get to know one or two of them well before we widen you out. Town-centre flats off Eden Walk and the riverside blocks on Riverside Walk by Kingston Bridge are the bulk of KT1. Norbiton, one stop up from Kingston Station, gives us long Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Cambridge Road and the Cambridge Estate, plus a handful of newer flats behind the hospital. New Malden in KT3 is mostly 1930s semis on the streets around the high street, with a steady stream of work tied to the area’s Korean community and the restaurants on the high street like Imone at 169 High Street. Coombe is a different animal: 1920s and 1930s mansion blocks, a few of the original Coombe Hill houses, and the larger 20th-century replacements built inside the old grounds. Chessington South in KT9 is wide-road suburbia, the 1930s semis built when the branch line opened in 1939.
End-of-tenancy work funnels through letting agents we know on the ground. Gibson Lane on Kingston Hill cover Norbiton, Coombe, New Malden and Ham; Carringtons Property book us for jobs around Kingston Vale and Norbiton. The mix on most rota days is maintenance cleans in private flats and houses, plus one or two end-of-tenancy slots a fortnight.
Pay, plainly
£14 an hour. Weekly, every Friday, into the bank account on your invoice. Self-employed or PAYE, your choice. We pay weekly because monthly is rough on anyone new to the team. For context, Maid2Clean Kingston currently offer £14.25 cash on the day, and a chunk of the Indeed listings around KT1 and KT2 sit at £13.25 to £14.25 (Alfa Cleaners is the public example). £14 weekly into the account, with the rota worked out a fortnight ahead, is what we think is fair for steady part-time work in this borough.
Things you’ll learn quickly about Kingston
The CPZ map is a patchwork. Zones A, B, C, G, H, N, R, T and V cover most of the town centre and the inner suburbs, and each has its own controlled hours, so do not assume that what worked on a Norbiton job will work on an Eden Street job ([Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames](https://www.kingston.gov.uk/parking-1/controlled-parking-zones)). Where a client pays for visitor parking we send the permit code the morning of the job; where they don’t, we’ll tell you straight that the round is a walk from the station.
Coombe Hill is a conservation area, which mostly affects clients (skip placement, scaffolding, that kind of thing) but is worth knowing because half the houses there have driveways you can park on and you’ll spend a week learning which ones don’t ([Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames conservation listing](https://www.kingston.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/heritage-and-conservation/conservation-areas/coombe-hill)).
Ancient Market Place trades 10am to 5pm seven days a week under Between The Bridges, the new operator since April 2025. If you’re cleaning a flat off the Market Place on a Saturday, plan to arrive before half-nine — the streets behind the market fill up by ten and stay full until late afternoon.
If you don’t drive, the rota in KT1, KT2 and parts of KT3 is fine on buses and the train. Norbiton is one stop, New Malden two stops, both about 25 minutes from Waterloo. Chessington South and the further Coombe addresses are easier with a car, and an electric or low-emission one because the whole borough has been inside the ULEZ since 29 August 2023.
What we want from you
- ✓You’ll have cleaned before, properly, either professionally or seriously domestically over a long stretch. We aren’t training from zero on this round.
- ✓You’ll turn up. The bar for that one is not high but a couple of operators in this borough have failed to clear it in the last year.
- ✓You’ll text the night before if a job needs to move. Not the morning of. The night before.
- ✓You’re alright with two-hour minimums and the occasional longer end-of-tenancy slot.

No CV. No covering letter. No long form to fill in.
How to apply
Message the number on this page with your name, the postcode you live in, and one sentence on where you’ve cleaned before. We reply within 48 hours. If we want to meet, we meet on a weekday morning at a coffee shop in the Bentall Centre or near Kingston Market, and you’ll need to bring some ID and a recent utility bill so we can do right-to-work properly.
