Pull the oven door open in a Kentish Town flat and two things tend to greet you at once: a brown fog baked across the glass you can never wipe off, and a grill pan gone grey and gritty, because Thames Water runs this whole stretch of north London very hard. We sort both in one morning. Oven cleaning in Camden runs from £77 for a single oven, cleaned in a non-caustic dip-tank and ready to use the same day. Racks, trays and the door glass drop into a heated tank in the van while we hand-clean the cavity. No caustic stink, no day with the windows open, and the Sunday roast can go back in the moment we pull away. Ring 0333 555 2076 for a firm price in about ninety seconds.

Last updated April 2026. Covering NW1, NW3, NW5, N7, N19 and the WC1 fringe across the borough, from Camden Town and Chalk Farm up through Kentish Town, Gospel Oak, Dartmouth Park and Tufnell Park, and west to Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and Regent’s Park.

What an oven clean costs in Camden

Prices first, since that is what the phone rings about. A single oven is from £77. A double, the tall built-in sort with two cavities, is from £110. A 90cm range cooker is from £114, and a two-oven AGA from £143. Tell us the cooker type and roughly how grim it has got, and you get a firm figure on the phone before the van leaves.

The whole kit travels in the van, so anything sat around the oven is cheaper bolted onto the same visit than booked alone. A hob is £23 to £28, depending on whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. An extractor hood with its filter is £28. A microwave is £22. A fair few Camden customers add the hob and the extractor on the day, once they clock how the grease on them suddenly shows next to a clean oven.

No call-out fee. The price covers the products, the kit and the drive across the borough, and you pay on the day by card or bank transfer. You also get a receipt on company headed paper, which counts for more than people expect. A Camden letting agent will usually want proof the oven was done properly before a deposit goes back, and a line scrawled on a notepad will not cut it.

No caustic stink, no day with the windows open, and the Sunday roast can go back in the moment we pull away.

How we actually clean an oven

Most of the trade runs a dip-tank of one kind or another. What sorts a good clean from a poor one is the chemistry, the bits people skip, and whether the person doing it has done a handful or a few thousand. Ours have done the few thousand. Here is the order it runs in.

  1. The floor goes down and the worktop either side gets covered. The oven comes off the wall and cools right down if it has been on that day.
  2. Everything that lifts out, lifts out. Racks, trays, runners, the fan cover, and the inner door glass. Modern doors have a removable inner pane, and the baked film hiding between the layers is the real reason an oven still looks dirty after you have scrubbed it raw. We unclip that pane. Most people never knew it came out.
  3. The removable parts go into a heated tank in the van, a non-caustic water-based degreaser held around 60C. Twenty to forty minutes in there shifts the lot: carbon, baked grease, the sugar glaze welded to a tray, the hard-water scale crusted round the grill pan.
  4. While they soak we work the cavity by hand. Enzyme degreaser on the walls, roof, floor and back panel, left to dwell so the chemistry does the lifting in place of your wrist. Then non-abrasive pads, detail brushes round the seal channel and the element, and a microfibre finish. The fan blade gets extra time, because that is where carbon does the lasting harm.
  5. Parts out, rinsed, dried, refitted. Door glass cleaned on both faces, gasket wiped, runners back in their slots. Exactly as we found it.
  6. A quick function test. Oven on, fan turning, handed back ready to cook on.

It is not glamorous work, and we have never pretended otherwise. It is the difference between an oven that looks a bit better and one that is genuinely clean down to the element, which is where the thing decides how long it lasts. Carbon caked on the fan and element is the commonest reason the rental ovens we meet at a Camden check-out have already given up, and a clean twice a year works out far cheaper than a new oven fitted.

We have seen worse. Honestly.

Thames Water, limescale and your oven

Camden has a limescale problem, and ovens cop it as badly as kettles do. Thames Water supplies the whole borough, and it draws the supply through the chalk and limestone of the Thames Valley, so what comes out of the tap is very hard, up around 280 to 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Every time steam off a roasting tin or a pan of greens hits cold metal, a little more scale is left behind. Grill pans go cloudy, door glass films over, and the chrome on the racks turns dull and rough under your thumb.

Grease and scale together are stubborn in a way grease alone is not. A supermarket spray is built for the grease and slides straight over the scale, which is why so many Camden Town and Kentish Town kitchens end up with an oven that smells clean but still looks tired. The dip-tank takes on both at once. The warm water-based solution lifts the carbon and the calcium deposits off the same tray in one soak, and the racks come out smooth again instead of gritty.

Roast dinner coming out of a sparkling clean oven
A clean oven cooks cleaner: no smoke, no old-grease smell, just dinner.

You can look your own road up on the Thames Water hardness pages if you fancy it. We are not here to sell you a softener. We are just saying that if you live in Camden, the scale is doing quiet damage to your oven on top of the grease, and a proper clean has to deal with the pair of them or it has not really done the job.

Camden kitchens and the ovens in them

You can date a Camden kitchen by the cooker in it. Round Primrose Hill and the Regent’s Park fringe the stock is grand early-Victorian and Georgian terraces, a lot of them long ago carved into flats, each with its own oven taking heavy weeknight use. Walk east into Kentish Town, Dartmouth Park and Tufnell Park and it turns to solid Victorian and Edwardian terraces, most subdivided into maisonettes, much of it inside a conservation area where ripping a kitchen out and starting from scratch is simply not allowed.

Gospel Oak and the wards above Prince of Wales Road bring in post-war council blocks and ex-local-authority flats, compact galley kitchens with a single built-in oven that has fed a family hard for years. Then there are the canalside conversions and the newer blocks off the Camden Lock end of the borough, fitted with sleek integrated ovens that look easy and are anything but: the door glass clouds fast and the racks tuck right to the back.

Getting a tank around Camden is its own small art. We work off the Northern line at Camden Town, Chalk Farm and Kentish Town, the Overground at Gospel Oak and Kentish Town West, and we know which side streets off Camden High Street you can actually stop on. The Camden quirk worth knowing is the parking. The Camden Town zone, CA-F, is controlled Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:30pm and at weekends from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and since a 2024 trial the CA-F(n) streets nearest the market hold their weekend controls right up to 11pm, so if your road sits in that ring, tell us when you book and we plan the slot around it. Most days it makes no odds at all. The borough also sits entirely inside the ULEZ, which runs every day bar Christmas, so an old diesel left outside your flat is a daily charge whether we are there or not.

What the price includes

Everything below is part of a standard oven clean, not an extra once we are through the door.

  • Full strip-down and reassembly of the oven.
  • Dip-tank clean of every removable part: racks, trays, side runners, fan cover, inner door glass, plus range trivets and burners where there are any.
  • Enzyme cavity clean of the walls, roof, floor, back panel, fan, element and seals.
  • Both faces of the inner and outer door glass.
  • Hinges and the seal gasket cleaned and checked.
  • Control knobs and the front panel wiped down.
  • A function test before we go, and same-day use, because nothing we use has to burn off.
  • All products, all kit, and the drive across Camden.

And the part that does not sit on a tidy list: a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee. If something is not right, flag it to the technician before they pack up and it gets put right on the spot. Spot it after we have gone and one phone call brings us back. In over ten years it rarely comes to that, but the guarantee is there so you are not taking it on trust.

How booking works

It is a short phone call. Ring 0333 555 2076 and tell us the oven type, roughly how bad it is, any add-ons like the hob or extractor, and when suits you. We price it on the spot, usually inside two minutes, and book the slot. You can also email [email protected] if you would rather put it in writing.

Most Camden oven jobs land within three to five days, and same-day or next-day slots come up often midweek. Month-end is the busy patch, when move-out cleans stack up across the borough, so if you are cleaning for an inspection, give us a week where you can. On the day we turn up in a liveried van with the dip-tank aboard, and you are welcome to stay, head to work, or get on with something in another room. There is a bit of scrubbing noise and no chemical smell at any point. We test it, show you the result, take payment, and leave you an oven you would happily put a Sunday roast in. Not sure how bad yours counts as? Send a photo of the inside over the phone and we quote it properly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does oven cleaning cost in Camden?

A single oven is from £77, a double from £110, and a 90cm range cooker from £114. A two-oven AGA is from £143. Add-ons on the same visit cost less: a hob is £23 to £28, an extractor hood £28, and a microwave £22. We give you a firm figure on the phone first, so the price on the day is the price you agreed.

Do you cover all of Camden?

Yes. From Camden Town and Chalk Farm up through Kentish Town, Gospel Oak, Dartmouth Park and Tufnell Park, and west to Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and Regent’s Park. If your postcode starts NW1, NW3, NW5, N7 or N19 you are inside the patch. Ring with your postcode and we confirm in seconds.

Can I use the oven the same day you clean it?

Yes, the moment we leave. The dip-tank is non-caustic and water-based, so there is no caustic smell to burn off and no waiting around. The roast can go straight back in. That is the main reason people pick us over a supermarket spray and an open window all afternoon.

Camden has hard water. Does that hurt my oven?

It does, more than most people think. Thames Water draws this part of London through chalk and limestone, so it runs very hard, around 280 to 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Limescale builds fast on grill pans, door glass and any metal that meets steam. We lift the scale as well as the grease, and the tank does both off the racks without scratching them.

Will the controlled parking zone cause a problem?

Rarely, but it is worth a mention when you book. The Camden Town zone, CA-F, is controlled weekdays from 8:30am to 6:30pm and weekends from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and a 2024 trial holds the streets nearest the market under control until 11pm. If your road sits in that ring, tell us and we plan the slot around it.

The standard: enamel back to black gloss, racks bright, glass clear.

How long does an oven clean take?

A single oven is about 90 minutes. A double is closer to two hours, a 90cm range two to two and a half. An AGA can run to a half-day because of its size and the enamel. We give you a realistic time on the phone so you can plan the rest of the day around it.

Is the method safe for the oven and the kitchen?

Yes. The tank is warm and water-based, kept well below the heat that would warp metal or lift a coating, and the cavity products are enzyme-based and enamel-safe. Most of the real harm we meet in Camden ovens came from years of caustic soda spray stripping the enamel, or wire wool scratching the glass. We use neither.

Do you clean the racks, trays and door glass too?

Every part that lifts out comes out and goes in the dip-tank: racks, trays, side runners and the fan cover. We also split the door and clean between the panes, which is where the brown film you can never wipe away actually sits. It all goes back exactly as it came out.

Do you clean pyrolytic or self-cleaning ovens?

Yes, and plenty of Camden owners of them still book us. The self-clean cycle bakes the cavity to ash but leaves the door glass, the racks and the fan cover untouched, and it does nothing at all for the hob or the extractor. Most owners run the cycle now and then and have us in once a year for the rest.

Is Monster Cleaning a real, insured company?

Yes. We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House number 9919639, trading since 2014, with a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee on every job. Our Trustpilot sits at 3.1 out of 5 across 128 reviews, which we would rather show you straight than dress up. Insurance papers go to managing agents and landlords on request.
