You can smell Borough Market frying before you reach it, and yet the oven in your own flat is the one thing in the kitchen you have given up on. We can sort that this week.
Last updated April 2026. The prices and service details below are current for Southwark and the surrounding SE postcodes.
Monster Cleaning does oven cleaning in Southwark from £77, with a non-caustic dip-tank so you can cook in the oven the same day.
What it costs in Southwark
The numbers first, before any of the explaining. A single oven is £77. A double oven is £110. A range cooker up to 90cm wide is £114, and a two-oven AGA is £143. Those are fixed prices for Southwark, not a figure that drifts up once we are stood in your kitchen.
Most people want more than the oven done while we are there, so the add-ons bolt straight on. A hob is £23 to £28, depending on whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. An extractor hood with its filters is £28. A microwave, cleaned inside and out, is £22. Mix those with any oven above.
No call-out fee. We quote the figure on the phone, and that is the figure you pay.
Why same-day is the point
The thing people ask before anything else is whether they can use the oven that night. With us, you can, and that is the whole reason we work the way we do. We carry a heated dip-tank in the van, and the racks, the side runners, the fan guard and any removable trays come out and go into it to soak. The solution in that tank is non-caustic, so it lifts the baked-on carbon without the eye-watering chemical reek a caustic gel leaves behind.
That reek is more than unpleasant. Caustic residue baked into a hot cavity is exactly why some ovens taste faintly of chemicals for a week after a so-called deep clean. Ours do not, because the cavity is hand-cleaned with the same gentle products, wiped down properly, and the dipped parts are rinsed and dried before they go back in.
We carry a heated dip-tank in the van, and the racks, the side runners, the fan guard and any removable trays come out and go into it to soak.
So, the honest answer to the question we hear most. Cook in it tonight.
One caveat we will always be straight about. If your oven is pyrolytic, the self-cleaning sort with a special coating inside the cavity, we do not put those liners in the tank, because the coating can be scratched. We hand-clean that cavity instead, and the removable parts still go in the tank as normal.
Southwark flats and baked-on grease
Southwark is mostly a borough of flats, and the kitchen tells you which era you live in. Down by the river around Bankside and Hopton Street you get the warehouse conversions, the old Bankside Lofts type of place, with a long open living space and the cooker tucked into a galley along one wall. A few streets on you have the towers, NEO Bankside opposite the Tate and the blocks behind the Blue Fin Building, where the kitchens are compact and very well sealed. Then there is the older stock, the ex-council blocks like Falcon Point by the Founders Arms, and the little two-storey Victorian cottages over towards the Old Kent Road.

Different buildings, same problem. When the cooker sits in a small, enclosed space the oven runs hot and the splatter has nowhere to escape, so it bakes onto the door glass and the back wall far quicker than it would in a big open kitchen. The sealed new-builds are the sly ones, because they look easy and then the compact oven inside concentrates the heat and grease into a tiny cavity.
The water finishes the job. London sits on chalk, and Thames Water rates the supply as very hard, around 293 parts per million of dissolved minerals. That hardness is why your kettle furs up within weeks of descaling it, and it is why oven trays and grill pans build a dull grey scale that ordinary spray slides straight over. Heat bonds that scale to the grease, and you are left with the dark crust that a sponge only polishes.
None of it troubles the tank. Hard-water scale and baked carbon both release in the non-caustic solution given enough soak time, which is the entire reason we take the parts out rather than scrubbing at them in place. We did a flat off Hopton Street last winter where the previous tenant had never once cleaned a double oven in three years; the trays came out of the tank looking like they had come out of a box.
Getting the kit to your door
The local thing that shapes an oven job here is not parking, it is the front door. A lot of Southwark addresses are flats up a few floors, sometimes in a block with a concierge and a service lift, sometimes a conversion with a narrow staircase and no lift at all. We are used to both. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift when you book, and we plan the slot and the kit around it.
We cover the whole borough, well beyond the riverside strip by Tate Modern. That means the SE1 streets at Bankside and Borough, Bermondsey and Rotherhithe in SE16, Peckham in SE15, Camberwell in SE5, and the East Dulwich end in SE22. If you are near a station, Borough, London Bridge, Elephant and Castle or Rotherhithe on the Overground, even better, because we can carry the kit in without hunting for somewhere to leave the van.
Most of what we clean here is domestic. Family ovens, landlord turnarounds, and a steady run of move-out jobs that get booked alongside our end of tenancy cleaning in Southwark. We take on small commercial kitchens too, the cafe-sized ones near the market, but the bread and butter is the flat oven that has not had a proper clean in a couple of Christmases.
A visit, step by step
We arrive in the window we agreed, lay protective sheets so nothing drips on your floor, and set the tank up where you are happy with it, usually on a sheet in the kitchen. The removable parts come out first and go straight in to soak while we work on the fixed cavity. That soak is doing the heavy lifting, so by the end the parts are the easy bit.
A single oven is normally done in 75 to 90 minutes. A double or a range is closer to two hours, and an AGA can run to a half-day, because there is simply more cast iron to work through. We clean between the door panes where we can get in, the seals, the racks, the trays, and the hob and extractor if you have added them. Then everything is rinsed, dried and put back, and we show you the finished oven before we pack up.
If something is not right, say so on the day or within 48 hours. We come back and put it right under our re-clean guarantee, no argument and no extra charge. Guaranteeing the work, rather than just promising it, is the point.
The firm behind the van
We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, registered at Companies House under number 9919639, cleaning London homes since 2014. The office is at 255 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QS, over in East Sheen, and we run oven and domestic jobs across south and central London from there.

We will be straight about the reviews, since you can read them anyway. Our Trustpilot score is 3.1 out of 5 across 128 reviews. That is not a perfect number and we are not going to dress it up. What it reflects is a real firm that has done a lot of jobs over a lot of years, fixed the ones that went wrong, and kept the re-clean guarantee on the table so a bad day for one customer ends in a return visit rather than a shrug.
For the method in more detail, our oven cleaning service overview walks through how the dip-tank and the cavity clean fit together.
Booking an oven clean
Booking is quick. Ring 0333 555 2076 or email [email protected], tell us your SE postcode and what you have, a single, a double, a range cooker or an AGA, and any hob, extractor or microwave you want added. We give you the fixed price there and then.
From there we book a slot, usually the same week and often within a couple of days. You do not need to do much to get ready. Empty the oven, warn the porter if there is one, and leave the rest to us. We turn up with the tank, the tools and our own water, and we leave you an oven you can use the same evening.
While we are in the kitchen, plenty of Southwark customers ask us to look at the rest of the flat. If that is you, our domestic cleaning in Southwark team handles the regular and one-off house cleans, and for rugs and stairs there is a separate carpet cleaning in Southwark service. Mention it when you book the oven and we will line it up.
Frequently asked questions
How much does oven cleaning in Southwark cost?
A single oven is £77, a double £110, and a 90cm range cooker £114. A two-oven AGA is £143. Add a hob for £23 to £28, an extractor for £28, or a microwave for £22. There is no call-out fee on top.
Can I cook in the oven the same day you clean it?
Yes. The racks and parts go through a non-caustic dip-tank, so nothing harsh is baked into the cavity. Once it is wiped down and the parts are back in, you can use it that evening.
Do you cover all of Southwark or just Bankside and Borough?
All of it. We clean ovens along the SE1 riverside at Bankside and Borough, out through Bermondsey and Rotherhithe in SE16, Peckham in SE15, Camberwell in SE5 and the East Dulwich end in SE22. If your postcode starts SE1, SE16, SE15, SE5 or SE22, you are on our patch.
Is the dip-tank safe for a self-cleaning or pyrolytic oven?
It is safe for the removable parts, which is what the tank is for. We never put pyrolytic liners in the tank, because the coating inside those cavities can be damaged by abrasion. We hand-clean the cavity and tell you straight if a liner is the self-cleaning type.
How long does an oven clean take?
A single oven is usually 75 to 90 minutes. A double or a range cooker is closer to two hours. An AGA can be a half-day. In Southwark the access and the lift are what add time, not the oven, so we plan the slot around that.

Why does grease bake on so hard in Southwark kitchens?
Two reasons. Many flats here are warehouse conversions or compact new-builds with a small galley off the living space, so the oven runs hot in a tight room. And Thames Water rates the London supply as very hard, around 293 parts per million, so trays scale up and the carbon bonds harder.
Do you clean the hob and extractor hood as well?
We do. A hob is £23 to £28 depending on whether it is gas, ceramic or induction, and an extractor with its filters is £28. In a sealed conversion the filters clog quickly, so most people do the extractor at the same time as the oven.
Can you get into a warehouse conversion or a tower flat with the kit?
Yes, that is most of our Bankside work. We carry the kit up in the lift and set the tank where you are happy with it, often the kitchen floor on a sheet. Tell us the floor and whether there is a service lift when you book, and we plan around it.
What do I need to do before you arrive?
Almost nothing. Empty the oven, and if you are in a block let the concierge or porter know we are coming so the lift is free. Switch the oven off a couple of hours before if it has been on. We bring the tank, the tools and our own water.
Can the oven be cleaned as part of a move-out?
Yes, and a lot of our Southwark move-out ovens are booked that way. If you want the whole flat done, the oven folds into the kitchen, bathroom and the rest of the deposit-critical work on the day.
Are you insured, and is there a guarantee?
We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, registered at Companies House under 9919639 and trading since 2014, and we carry public liability insurance. Every oven clean comes with a re-clean guarantee. If a tray or a door panel is not right, tell us within 48 hours and we come back.
