How we actually clean an oven
We do not spray the inside, wipe it and call it done. We take the oven apart. The racks, the side runners, the fan cover and the door come out, and the inner and outer door glass gets split so we can reach the brown film that always builds up between the two panes. The parts go into a heated dip tank on the van that lifts baked-on carbon off without harsh caustic paste smeared round your kitchen. The cavity itself we hand-scrape and hand-wipe, corners and all.
Then it goes back together, the seals checked, the glass clear, and we run it briefly so you can see it works and smell nothing but clean metal. The kitchen is left as we found it, no black splatter up the units, no puddle under the appliance.
The inner and outer door glass gets split so we can reach the brown film that always builds up between the two panes.
We are straight about the limits. A cracked door seal or a dead fan element is a repair, not a clean, and we will point it out rather than pretend a scrub fixed it. If the enamel inside is already pitted from years of neglect, it will come up clean but it will not come up new. You will hear that from us before we start.
The appliance mix in E17 rental kitchens
Walthamstow is a heavily let borough and the kitchens tell the story. The Victorian terraces off Hoe Street and around the Village were never built with a fitted kitchen at all, so what is in there now is whatever a landlord bolted in over the decades: a freestanding cooker in one flat, a built-under single oven and a separate ceramic hob in the next. The ex-Warner half-houses often have a small galley kitchen squeezed into the back addition, with a compact oven that still cops years of fry-ups.
The newer stock is a different animal. The Blackhorse View flats and the other towers near Blackhorse Road and the Wetlands tend to come with an integrated double oven, an induction or ceramic hob and a slot-in extractor, all clean-lined and all a pain to degrease properly if they have been let go. Post-war blocks like Priory Court sit in between, usually a single oven and a four-ring hob that has fed a family for years.

An extractor hood is £28, filters included, and it is worth doing whenever the oven is done so the grease it holds does not rain back down.
People ask about limescale, and it is a fair question here. Walthamstow is on very hard Thames Water, so kettles and the base of a steam-heavy oven can fur up with chalk over time. You do not need to be hovering, but the oven does need to be cold, so please do not run it the hour before we arrive.
Parking we handle ourselves.
