Ask a Canary Wharf concierge which flat job comes up most at a move-out and the oven wins every time, so we see no shortage of them. Oven cleaning in Tower Hamlets starts at £77 for a single oven, stripped down, dip-tank soaked, and handed back fit to cook the same day. The trays and door panes go into a heated tank in the van while a technician scrubs the cavity by hand, which means no caustic fumes and no evening lost with the windows wide open. Ring 0333 555 2076 and we will price it down the line in a minute or two.
Last updated April 2026. We cover E14, E1, E2, E3 and E1W right across Tower Hamlets, taking in Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs, on through Poplar, Limehouse and Blackwall, up to Mile End, Bow and Bethnal Green, and over to Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Wapping by the river.
Tower Hamlets oven prices, plainly set out
People ring about the price, so here it is up front. The figure depends only on the cooker, not on how filthy it has got, and there is never a call-out fee on top.
| What we clean | Roughly how long | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single oven | about 90 minutes | from £77 |
| Double oven | about 2 hours | from £110 |
| Range cooker (90cm) | 2 to 2.5 hours | from £114 |
| AGA (2-oven) | half a day | from £143 |
| Hob (gas, ceramic or induction) | 20 to 30 minutes | £23 to £28 |
| Extractor hood and filter | about 30 minutes | £28 |
| Microwave | about 20 minutes | £22 |
The hob, extractor and microwave are the three add-ons people slip onto a booking, and they cost less folded into the oven visit than called out on their own. A hob lands between £23 and £28 according to whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. An extractor with its filter is £28, and a microwave £22. The kit is already in the van, so it is no extra trip for us.
You pay on the day, card or bank transfer, once you have seen the finished oven. With it comes a receipt on headed paper, the bit of evidence a Tower Hamlets agent tends to ask for before a deposit is signed off.

How the dip-tank clean works
A dip-tank is common enough in this trade. What actually decides the result is what sits in the bath, which awkward bits get skipped, and how many ovens the person doing it has under their belt. Ours have done thousands. The visit goes roughly like this.
- We lay a sheet across the floor and drape the worktops either side, then pull the oven forward and let it cool right off if it has been running.
- Everything that lifts out comes out: shelves, trays, runners, the fan cover, and the inner pane of the door, which on most modern doors unclips. The brown cloud you keep wiping at lives between those panes, and once it is apart it cleans up properly.
- The loose parts sink into the heated tank in the van, a water-based, non-caustic degreaser held near 60C, where half an hour dissolves carbon, welded fat, the glassy toffee on an old tray and the scale crusted round the grill pan.
- Meanwhile the cavity is hand-done. An enzyme degreaser goes on the roof, sides, floor, back and fan and is left to bite, then it comes off with soft pads and fine brushes worked into the seal channel and around the element. The fan gets the most time, since the carbon hiding in it is what kills an oven young.
- The soaked parts are rinsed, dried and put back, the glass buffed front and back, the gasket wiped, every runner clipped home.
- We fire it up to confirm it heats, and that is the job done, ready for whatever you are cooking next.
It is not glamorous work and we have never pretended otherwise. The difference that counts is between an oven that looks a bit better and one that is clean down to the element, the part that quietly sets how many more years the appliance has in it. When a rented oven has already died before a check-out, a fan packed with baked carbon is nearly always behind it.
We have seen far worse. Honestly.
Hard water and what it does to an oven
East London drinks some of the hardest water in the country, and ovens cop it the same as the kettle does. Thames Water draws the borough’s supply through the chalk of the Thames Valley, which loads it to roughly 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Every burst of steam off a tray that settles on cool metal dries to a chalky speckle. Grill pans go hazy, the door glass clouds, and the chrome on the shelves loses its shine and turns rough to the touch.
Here is the snag a spray cannot solve: grease and scale together behave nothing like grease alone. A shop-bought cleaner is formulated for the fat and slides clean over the mineral crust, which is why so many kitchens around Bow and Mile End run an oven that smells fine and still looks worn out. Drop the same tray in the tank and the carbon and the calcium float off together, so it comes back smooth rather than gritty.
None of this is a pitch for a water softener. The point is narrower: in Tower Hamlets the scale is wearing your oven down alongside the grease, and a clean that ignores one of the two has not really cleaned it.

A borough of two kitchens
The cooker in a Tower Hamlets kitchen tends to give away which half of the borough you are standing in. North of the old docks you get the historic stock: Georgian townhouses around Spitalfields, long Edwardian and Victorian terraces through Bow and Bethnal Green, and the converted warehouses of Wapping and Limehouse, where one freestanding cooker has fed the same household hard for years. Then there is the other Tower Hamlets, the one that grew out of the docks: the glass towers of Canary Wharf and the riverside blocks down the Isle of Dogs, places like South Quay and the new Westferry Printworks plots, fitted with sleek integrated ovens that look easy and are anything but.
Those built-in ovens are the ones people give up on by hand soonest. The door glass clouds quickly, the racks tuck right to the back, and a compact galley kitchen leaves no room to wrestle a tray over the sink. A good share of our E14 work is exactly this: a tower flat with an integrated oven never properly cleaned since the developer handed over the keys.
Getting a tank around the borough has its own rhythm. Canary Wharf is the anchor, where three separate stations share one name, the Jubilee line below ground, the DLR on its viaduct, and the Elizabeth line that opened deep under Crossrail Place. For the door-to-door rounds we lean on the DLR and the buses along Commercial Road, while the river crossings funnel everything through a handful of bridges off the Isle of Dogs, so the southern tip can be slow at pick-up time. Parking is the catch worth flagging: nearly all of the borough is permit-zone and cashless, the wharf estate runs its own private roads and barriers, and the whole of Tower Hamlets falls inside the ULEZ, so an old diesel at the kerb clocks up a daily charge.

What is included as standard
One price, one job, no line items sprung on you halfway through. A standard oven clean covers all of this:
- the appliance dismantled and reassembled around the clean;
- a tank soak for the shelves, trays, runners, fan cover and inner glass, plus the trivets and burner caps on a range;
- an enzyme scrub through the roof, walls, floor, back, fan, element and seals of the cavity;
- both faces of the inner and outer door glass brought clear;
- hinges and the seal gasket checked and wiped;
- the fascia and the control knobs cleaned down;
- a heat test before we leave, the oven ready to use at once;
- the products, the gear and the run out to you, all in the quoted price.
The thing that will not sit on a bullet list is our satisfaction and re-clean guarantee. If something is off while the technician is still there, it gets fixed on the spot; if you notice later, one call and we are back. It rarely comes to that, but the guarantee is there so nothing hangs on taking our word for it.
Licensing, move-outs and your deposit
So much of the borough rents that move-out work shapes a fair part of our diary. Tower Hamlets operates a selective licensing scheme running to 30 September 2026, which obliges a private landlord across the Whitechapel, Weavers, Spitalfields and Banglatown, and Stepney Green wards to license each let. What that means on the ground is simple: licensed homes can be inspected, so the oven at a check-out has to satisfy an inventory clerk rather than merely look wiped.
This is where we fit. Every move-out oven clean leaves with a headed receipt and the re-clean guarantee attached, which is precisely the proof a managing agent wants before letting a deposit go. Whether you are a tenant chasing your money back or a landlord flipping a flat between lets, a properly done oven is one line the inventory will not snag on.
How to book us
It takes one phone call. Dial 0333 555 2076, tell us the cooker, roughly how bad it is, any extras such as a hob or extractor, and which days work for you. We quote on the spot, normally inside a couple of minutes, and pencil you in. If you would sooner sort it in writing, email [email protected].
A slot usually opens within three to five days, and midweek there are often same-day or next-day gaps. Month-end is the bottleneck, with tenancy turnovers piling up borough-wide, so allow a week’s headroom if it is tied to an inspection. We run the heat test, walk you round the result, take payment, and leave you an oven ready for Sunday lunch. Not sure how grim yours is? Send a photo and a quote comes straight back.

We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, registered at 255 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QS, and our vans are in Tower Hamlets most weeks of the year.
More of our Tower Hamlets cleaning
Ovens are one slice of what we run locally. The jobs people most often pair with one:
- end of tenancy cleaning in Tower Hamlets – the oven is the line agents flag most on an inventory, so it is folded into every booking.
- Carpet cleaning in Tower Hamlets – commonly done in the same visit while a flat is being turned round.
- Domestic cleaning in Tower Hamlets – the regular weekly or fortnightly visit, with an oven added once or twice a year.
If you want the method in full, the oven cleaning overview sets out how the dip-tank works across every area we serve.
Frequently asked questions
How much is oven cleaning in Tower Hamlets?
Reckon on £77 for a single oven, £110 for a double, £114 for a 90cm range and £143 for a two-oven AGA. Bolt-ons booked at the same time run £23 to £28 for a hob, £28 for an extractor and its filter, and £22 for a microwave. Whatever the cooker, you hear the exact number before we set off.
Is the oven usable straight after you have cleaned it?
It is, the second the van pulls away. Nothing we use is caustic, so there is no burning-off period and no airing the place out afterwards. That matters in a packed Isle of Dogs flat where the kitchen doubles as everything, and it is the reason most people pick the tank method over a spray-and-scrub.
Where in Tower Hamlets will you come out to?
Anywhere in the borough. We cover the E14 towers at Canary Wharf and down the Isle of Dogs, the older streets of Poplar, Limehouse and Blackwall, the terraces of Bow, Mile End and Bethnal Green, and across to Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Wapping. E14, E1, E2, E3 and E1W are all on the round.
People say the water is hard here. Does that wreck an oven?
Over time, yes, and few people clock it. The supply comes off Thames Valley chalk through Thames Water, which puts it near 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate, firmly in the very hard band. That scale cakes onto grill pans and frosts the door glass. The tank floats it off with the grease and leaves the chrome smooth, not scratched.
Do the racks, trays and the pane inside the door get cleaned as well?
They do. Anything that unclips goes for a soak: racks, trays, runners, the fan cover, and on a range its trivets and burner caps. We also part the door and clean the face you can never reach, the inner pane where that stubborn brown bloom hides. Every piece is dried and clipped back exactly as it was.
Roughly how long are you in the kitchen?
A single oven is around an hour and a half. Doubles push towards two hours, a 90cm range a little beyond that, and an AGA can swallow most of a morning thanks to its bulk and enamel. We quote a realistic window up front, so you are not stuck guessing whether to wait in.

Does the borough landlord licence change a check-out clean?
The clean is the same either way, but the backdrop is handy to know. Tower Hamlets runs selective licensing to 30 September 2026 across the Whitechapel, Weavers, Spitalfields and Banglatown, and Stepney Green wards, and licensed lets get inspected. So landlords there want the oven cleaned to a standard a clerk will pass, backed by a receipt, rather than a quick wipe round.
Is the process gentle on the appliance and the flat?
Yes. The bath is warm and water-based, nowhere near hot enough to buckle metal or peel a coating, and the inside is done with enzyme products that are kind to enamel. Almost all the harm we find in local ovens traces back to caustic foam or a wire pad. We bring neither near yours.
Can you handle the integrated and self-cleaning ovens in the new towers?
Constantly, since so much E14 work is exactly that. A pyrolytic burn reduces the cavity to ash, yet leaves the glass, the shelves and the fan cover dirty, and ignores the hob and extractor entirely. The usual pattern is to run the burn yourself and book us once a year for everything the cycle skips.
Will a flat high up at Canary Wharf cost more?
No. There is no call-out fee in Tower Hamlets, and a unit on the fortieth floor is priced the same as a terrace in Poplar. The kit rides up in the lift and we crack on as usual. A heads-up about visitor parking, a concierge sign-in or a goods lift helps, because the towers can be sticklers for it.
Could the oven go in with an end of tenancy clean?
Easily. It is the first thing a Tower Hamlets agent opens at a check-out, so the oven is part of every end of tenancy job we quote. Need only the oven done for an inspection? We will come out for that alone, with the same headed receipt and the re-clean guarantee on it.
Are you a genuine, insured firm?
We are. Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House 9919639, has been trading since 2014, and every job carries a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee. The Trustpilot score is 3.1 out of 5 from 128 reviews, which we would rather quote plainly than hide. Proof of insurance goes over to any landlord who asks.
