What it costs

A regular round is one cleaner, the same one, on your home every week or every fortnight. It is upkeep. The kitchen and the bathroom stay on top of themselves and the place never gets the chance to slide. That is the £22 weekly or £24 fortnightly service, and it is what most of our Slough customers are on.

What a regular visit covers
A regular clean follows the same routine each time, scaled to your home and the hours you have booked. A larger semi in Cippenham wants more time. A smaller flat gets the extras done rather than the cleaner clocking off.
Kitchen. Worktops, splashback, sink and taps wiped, disinfected and descaled. The water across Slough is hard enough to film a tap inside a fortnight. Descaling is a weekly habit here, not an occasional treat. The hob done properly, the appliance fronts wiped, the floor mopped, and the bins out.
Bathrooms. Bath, shower, screen and tiles scrubbed and descaled, which round here swallows the most minutes. The toilet cleaned under the rim, around the base and the handle. Basin, taps, mirror and glass left clear. The floor washed, behind the pedestal included, because that is the spot most cleaners skip and the one a bathroom starts to smell from.

The homes we clean across Slough
Slough is not one kind of housing, and the clean changes from street to street.
A great deal of it went up in a hurry. When the Trading Estate took off between the wars the town pulled workers in from all over, and the population jumped from about 16,000 in 1920 to roughly 55,000 by the end of the 1930s, so whole new roads and estates appeared almost overnight. Cippenham and the streets out west are full of the 1930s semis that came with that boom, bay window at the front and a long garden behind. The original bathrooms and tiling want a careful clean rather than a wet slap-around. Down at Langley the terraces and semis run a little older, early 1900s in places.
Around Salt Hill and Baylis you get the inter-war blocks of flats that suit a fortnightly slot. In the town centre and Chalvey a lot of homes are privately rented, and plenty are shared or split into rooms, so we do a fair few first-cleans when someone moves in. New flats have gone up quickly near the station since the Elizabeth line cut the run into central London to twenty-odd minutes, and many of those turn over with tenants too.

The one thing nearly every home in the town shares is the water, and it shapes more of the job than people expect. The supply here runs hard, which is why the kettle furs up and why a strong descaler is in every cleaner kit as standard.
The hard water, and what it does
Slough sits in Affinity Water territory, and the supply across SL1, SL2 and SL3 is hard. That one fact decides a surprising amount of how we clean here.
Hard water leaves a chalky film, on the kettle and shower screen first, then the taps, then as a dull crust round the base of a mixer where the drips dry. Left to a once-a-month clean it sets and turns into a scrubbing job. The fix is a descaler used little and often, which is what a weekly or fortnightly round is built around. On the older Cippenham and Langley bathrooms we still match it to the surface, because a harsh remover does more harm to a worn chrome finish or an old glazed tile than the scale would.
Parking, access and getting in
Parking in Slough is changing fast, and it shapes how we send cleaners out. The council is bringing in controlled parking across the whole borough in stages.
It is being rolled out zone by zone, so a road that was free to park on a year ago may be on permits now. The newer town-centre zones, the BS1 streets like Carlisle Road and Whitby Road and the BS2 streets like Baylis Road and Leeds Road among them, run controls Monday to Friday through the working day, which is exactly when a cleaner turns up. A lot of ours skip the car for that reason. Slough station puts the Elizabeth line on the doorstep, Langley has its own station, and the buses along the Farnham Road are frequent, so a good share of our rounds are done on foot from a stop.
Where a job genuinely needs a car and your road is controlled, we will ask whether you can lend us a visitor permit for the slot, or the cleaner parks legally a little further out and walks the last bit. Either way it is sorted before the first visit.
