Push out towards Oatlands and St George’s Hill and it becomes large family houses on generous plots, with multiple bathrooms and a great deal of hard flooring, where three hours is the starting point rather than the limit. Pretending a six-bedroom house off the Hill is the same clean as a flat behind the High Street would help nobody, least of all you.
Parking is rarely the headache here that it is in town. Most of the larger homes have a drive, so our cleaner is not circling the block or feeding a meter before she has picked up a cloth. The flats around the High Street and Church Street are the exception, and we plan those visits around the public car parks off Churchfields Avenue so the time you pay for goes on cleaning, not on hunting a bay.
A genuinely local quirk worth flagging. If your cleaner comes in by bus rather than driving, the 461 is the one that matters, the Falcon service that runs from Kingston through Weybridge and on to Addlestone, with the 436 dropping right on Monument Hill. The rivers shape the work too, more than people expect.
