Tooting cooks. It is the best reason to live here, from the market halls that have traded since 1930 to the home kitchens on every street that turn out proper dinners most nights. Ovens pay for that enthusiasm. We strip the burnt grease back to metal and glass at a fixed price, £77 for a single oven, and you can cook the same evening.

Oven cleaning across Tooting: a single oven is £77, a double £110, a 90cm range cooker £114 and an AGA £143, with hobs from £23, extractor hoods at £28 and microwaves at £22 while we are there.

Oven cleaning prices in Tooting

A single oven is £77. A double is £110. A 90cm range cooker is £114 and an AGA is £143. Racks, trays and the door glass are part of the job, not add-ons with their own price tags.

While we are in the kitchen it makes sense to finish the set. Hobs are £23 to £28 depending on size and state, extractor hoods are £28, and a microwave is £22. Most people add the hob without thinking, forget the extractor, then add it the second time once they have seen what comes out of the mesh.

Those prices are the finished article. Nothing gets discovered in the kitchen and added on.

Why Tooting kitchens work harder than most

Some neighbourhoods treat the kitchen as furniture. Tooting is not one of them. The stretch between the two tube stations, both open since 1926, carries one of London’s great concentrations of South Asian restaurants, and the same seriousness about food runs through the home kitchens of SW17. People here fry, temper spices, slow-cook, and roast for a houseful on Sunday. Wonderful for dinner. Hard on an oven.

Frying puts a fine mist of oil into the air, and that mist lands. On the extractor mesh, on the cupboard tops, on the hinge you never look at. Inside the oven, fat splashes bake into a black glaze that smokes a little more with every use. None of this is bad housekeeping. It is what real cooking does in any kitchen and any cuisine, and a Sunday roast lays grease down just as fast as a Friday curry.

A Sunday roast lays grease down just as fast as a Friday curry.

The extractor deserves its own paragraph. The filter above most Tooting hobs is saturated long before anyone thinks to check it, and a saturated filter stops pulling, so the oil mist settles on walls and ceilings instead. We degrease the mesh as part of the £28 hood clean and the difference is immediate, in noise as well as in air.

Around the market end we clean for plenty of people who cook at volume, for family occasions, community events or a batch-cooking sideline. Those ovens work like restaurant kit, and they respond to being cleaned like restaurant kit.

Singles, doubles, ranges and the odd AGA

Rented kitchens in the converted terraces off Mitcham Road mostly run a basic single electric oven, and it is usually one of the same few models, so we know where the grease hides and which shelf runners trap it. That clean is £77 and takes around two hours.

Family houses and the smarter Totterdown cottages have moved to doubles and, more and more, to 90cm range cookers: £110 and £114. A few AGAs survive near the commons, £143, and the one thing an AGA asks of you is to be switched off the day before, because it holds heat for hours and cannot be worked on hot.

Hobs run £23 to £28. Gas burner parts come off and go into the soak, ceramic and induction tops get the burnt rings polished away without scratching. London taps deliver around 270 to 300 ppm on Thames Water’s own figures, so every boil-over bakes a chalky scale ring on top of the grease, and scale and grease need different chemistry. That is one reason a supermarket spray never quite wins on its own.

Microwaves are £22 while we are already there. Nobody books us just for the microwave, but nobody says no either.

What the clean involves

Everything happens in your kitchen, on dust sheets, from a van parked as close as Wandsworth’s parking zones allow. Racks, trays and side runners come out and go into a heated soak with a proper degreaser. The cavity gets worked by hand, roof and fan area included, and the door glass comes back transparent instead of toffee-coloured.

The strong chemistry stays in our tank rather than on your worktops, and the oven is ready to cook in once it has dried, normally the same evening. First heat-up can steam faintly for a few minutes. That is water evaporating, not chemicals.

Limits, stated plainly: enamel that has discoloured over years of heat stays discoloured, and self-cleaning catalytic liners must not be scrubbed hard, so they get the gentler treatment they are designed for. We say all of this at booking rather than at the doorstep.

The main oven cleaning service page goes deeper into the kit and products if you want to read before you ring.

Rented kitchens, flatshares and moving out

A shared oven is an orphan. In a five-person house off the Broadway everyone cooks and no one owns the cleaning, so by the final month of the tenancy the oven is the dirtiest object in the property. It is also, in our experience, the first door an inventory clerk opens.

Door glass clear enough to make baking a spectator sport.

Tenants book us in the last week for exactly that reason. £77 spent on the single oven takes the most-billed item in a rented kitchen off the dispute list, and the receipt does the arguing for you.

Landlords use us between lets too, because a clean oven photographs like a new kitchen and sets the tone for a viewing.

If the whole place needs bringing back rather than just the cooker, end of tenancy cleaning in Tooting is the page you want.

How to book an oven clean

Call 0333 555 2076 or email [email protected]. Tell us what the cooker is, single, double, range or AGA, and whether the hob, hood or microwave should be done in the same visit. You get a fixed price on the phone and the same figure on the invoice.

Monster Cleaning has cleaned ovens across London since 2014. Company number 9919639, based in SW14, in Tooting most weeks. We keep our Trustpilot public at 3.1 from 128 reviews. Read the bad ones and our replies before you decide; that is what they are there for.

Oven customers often have us back for other work once the kitchen is sorted. The same office handles carpet cleaning in Tooting alongside weekly domestic cleaning in Tooting, so one phone call covers the lot.

Frequently asked questions

How much does oven cleaning cost in Tooting?

A single oven is £77 and a double is £110. A 90cm range cooker is £114 and an AGA is £143. Hobs are £23 to £28 depending on size, extractor hoods £28 and microwaves £22 when we are already there. Racks, trays and the door glass are included, not extras.

How long does an oven clean take?

Around two hours for a single oven, longer for doubles, range cookers and AGAs. We work on dust sheets in your kitchen, and the racks soak while the cavity is cleaned by hand, so the job runs itself in parallel rather than taking over your whole day.

Can I use the oven the same day it is cleaned?

Yes. Once the cavity has dried you can cook, normally the same evening. The first heat-up sometimes gives off a little steam for a few minutes, which is leftover moisture burning off rather than anything chemical, and it passes quickly.

Do you clean hobs, extractor hoods and microwaves as well?

Yes, and it is worth doing while we are there. Hobs are £23 to £28, extractor hoods £28, microwaves £22. Gas burner parts get soaked and rebuilt, glass tops get the burnt rings polished off, and the extractor mesh gets degreased so it actually pulls air again. Hard water leaves a scale ring wherever pans boil over, and that comes off too.

Can you clean range cookers and AGAs?

We can. A 90cm range is £114 and an AGA is £143. The one thing an AGA needs from you is to be switched off the day before, because it holds its heat for hours and cannot be cleaned hot. A range just needs a bit more time than a single oven.

Why does my oven smoke whenever I cook?

Because old fat on the floor, roof and fan of the oven carbonises a little more each time it heats. Once it has built into a black glaze it smokes at roasting temperature and flavours whatever you bake. A proper clean takes the cavity back to bare enamel and the smoke stops the same day.

Do landlords and tenants book oven cleans between tenancies?

All the time. The oven is usually the first thing an inventory clerk opens and the item most often billed against a deposit in a rented kitchen. Tenants book us in the final week of a tenancy, and landlords book us before viewings, because a clean oven photographs like a new kitchen.
