An oven that smokes before the food goes in has had its last warning. We strip Brixton ovens down, soak the racks and door glass in a tank in the van, and put everything back together clean, from £77 for a single oven, with the price agreed before we start.

Last updated July 2026. Prices and the areas we cover are checked each season, so what you read here is what you pay.

Oven cleaning in Brixton costs £77 for a single oven, £110 for a double, £114 for a 90cm range and £143 for an AGA. Hobs run £23 to £28, extractors £28, microwaves £22.

Oven cleaning prices in Brixton

The full list, so you can budget from your phone: a single oven is £77, a double is £110, a 90cm range cooker is £114 and an AGA is £143. Hobs are £23 to £28 depending on size and fuel, an extractor hood is £28 and a microwave is £22. Most people add the hob; it sits right there and it catches the worst of the fat.

One scheduling note. An AGA holds its heat for hours, so it needs switching off the night before we come. We remind you of this when you book, because forgetting it wastes everybody’s morning.

If you are pricing a whole kitchen, tell us what is in it and we will quote the lot in one figure: oven, hob, extractor and microwave together. There are no call-out fees and nothing extra for a bad oven. A neglected one simply takes us longer, and that is our problem rather than yours.

Brixton kitchens and what they do to ovens

A lot of Brixton rents, and rental kitchens collect appliances the way sheds collect paint tins. In the conversion flats off Railton Road and Josephine Avenue we meet whatever a landlord fitted between tenancies, often a freestanding cooker a decade past its best standing next to a brand-new fridge. Ex-council kitchens in Angell Town and on the Loughborough estate tend to hold solid, older ovens that reward a full strip-down. The compact new flats near the station, at Brixton Centric and up at Higgs Yard by Loughborough Junction, sit at the other extreme: slim integrated singles and induction hobs where one burnt lasagne haunts the fan for weeks.

And Brixton cooks. The households we clean for keep pace with the market a few streets away, and high-heat cooking means airborne fat. It settles on the extractor mesh, glues itself to the door glass and carbonises on the oven floor, and it builds much faster in a kitchen that actually gets used.

As for how often, most household ovens want a proper clean once a year, twice if you roast most weekends. The heavy weeks in our diary are late November and December, when everyone remembers the turkey has to fit in there somewhere, so if you want a pre-Christmas slot it pays to ring in early autumn.

A clean oven cooks cleaner: no smoke, no old-grease smell, just dinner.

The door glass is where everyone finally notices.

How the clean works

The clean is mechanical, in the best sense. Racks, trays, side runners and the door glass come out of the oven and go into a heated soak tank in the van, where the burnt fat lifts off in solution rather than in your kitchen. Inside the flat we work with products that do not fill the room with caustic fumes, which matters in a conversion kitchen whose only window opens onto a shared return.

The burnt fat lifts off in a soak tank in the van, not in your kitchen.

The glass gets scraped back with a blade, the interior degreased and wiped down to the enamel, the door reassembled, everything refitted and checked. A single oven takes roughly an hour and a half to two hours. Doubles, ranges and AGAs take longer. You can cook in it the same evening.

We also look at the bits nobody sees. Perished door seals get pointed out, side runners go back so the shelves glide instead of grinding, and the drip tray under the grill element is cleaned rather than flipped over and put back. If something is broken we say so; appliance repair is not our trade, but hearing about a fault early tends to save money.

Being straight about limits: enamel that has sat black for years can be permanently marked under the grease. We get every oven clean; we cannot always get it back to showroom.

Hobs, extractors, microwaves, limescale

Hobs are £23 to £28. Gas hobs get their burner crowns and trivets soaked and polished; induction and ceramic glass gets the blade treatment, done carefully, because a scratch on black glass is forever. Extractors are £28, and the mesh filters usually hold more fat than the oven does. Microwaves are £22 and take minutes, yet a spattered one undoes the look of an otherwise clean kitchen.

Limescale earns its own paragraph because south London water is properly hard, around 290 milligrams of chalk per litre from Thames Water. Anything in the kitchen that steams grows a white crust: the zone around the pans on a ceramic hob, the roof of a microwave, the spout of the kettle. We shift it with a descaler made for the job instead of scratching at it with a scourer.

The people doing the scrubbing

Monster Cleaning Ltd has been cleaning London kitchens since 2014, company number 9919639, based at 255 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QS. Our Trustpilot stands at 3.1 from 128 reviews and we quote it warts and all, because how a firm answers a complaint tells you more than a wall of five stars ever will.

Ovens are the fiddliest thing we clean, though far from the only one. The same team covers carpet cleaning in Brixton and regular domestic cleaning in Brixton, and the general oven cleaning page explains the service beyond SW9. Handing a rental back? The end of tenancy cleaning in Brixton page is where to look.

Booking a visit

Ring 0333 555 2076 or email [email protected] with your postcode and what needs doing: oven type, hob, extractor, microwave. You get a fixed price in the same conversation. Landlords and agents book us between tenancies all the time, and we can sort access with the tenant directly so nobody spends a morning waiting in.

We cover every corner of Brixton, from the mansion blocks on Rushcroft Road to Brixton Hill, Angell Town, Loughborough Junction and the Stockwell and Herne Hill borders. Morning slots go first. If your kitchen is a galley with room for one pair of elbows, warn us and we will bring patience.

Payment is by card or bank transfer once the work is done and you have had a look inside with the light on. Cash is fine too. The receipt comes by email the same day, which landlords and agents usually want for their files.

Frequently asked questions

How much does oven cleaning cost in Brixton?

A single oven is £77, a double £110, a 90cm range cooker £114 and an AGA £143. Hobs are £23 to £28, extractor hoods £28 and microwaves £22. The price is fixed when you book, and a filthy oven costs the same as a mildly grubby one.

How long does an oven clean take?

About an hour and a half to two hours for a single oven, longer for doubles, range cookers and AGAs. Most of the soaking happens in the tank in our van while we work on the interior, which is what keeps the time down and the mess out of your kitchen.

Can I use the oven the same day?

Yes. The products we use rinse off in full and leave no caustic residue, so once everything is wiped out and refitted you can cook that evening. The first heat-up sometimes gives off a faint clean-oven smell for a few minutes, which is normal.

First bake in a freshly cleaned oven always smells the best.

Do you clean the hob and extractor as well?

Yes, and doing them together makes sense. Hobs are £23 to £28 depending on size and type, extractors £28 and microwaves £22. Extractor filters are usually the greasiest thing in the kitchen, and a clean oven under a dripping hood does not stay clean for long.

Can you clean an AGA or a range cooker?

Yes. A 90cm range is £114 and an AGA is £143. An AGA has to be switched off the night before so it is cool enough to work on, and we remind you of that when you book. Range doors and racks get the same soak-tank treatment as everything else.

Do you work with landlords and letting agents?

Constantly. An oven is the first thing a new tenant opens and one of the first things photographed at check-out, so we clean plenty of them between tenancies across SW9 and SW2. We can arrange access with the outgoing tenant and send the invoice wherever you like.

Will the brown staining come off the door glass?

Usually, yes. Baked-on fat on glass responds well to soaking and a careful blade. What sometimes stays is staining trapped between the panes of a sealed double-glazed door, and etching where grease burnt into the surface itself; we point either out before we start rather than surprise you after.

Why does my hob get a white film even after wiping?

That film is limescale, not soap. Water in this part of London is hard, and every splash that dries on hot glass leaves its minerals behind. Wiping just moves it about, while a proper descaler dissolves it. We deal with it as part of a hob clean and the film stays away far longer.

A firm price in about ninety seconds.

Tell us the oven type when you call and the figure will not change on the day.
