How the clean actually works
Everything that unclips, unhooks or unscrews comes out: racks, trays, side runners, the fan cover, and the door itself, which splits so the grease fog trapped between the panes of glass can be wiped away. You have probably scrubbed at that brown haze from the outside. It was never on the outside.

A single oven takes around an hour and a half, a double more like two, a range or an AGA longer again. Reassembled and wiped out, the oven is ready for a roast the same evening. The first ten minutes of heat may carry a faint clean-oven smell, and then it is gone.
Grease films, extractors and the hob
Open-plan living is lovely right up until you fry in it. The airborne grease an extractor misses settles as a tacky film on cupboard tops and shelves, and the extractor itself clogs first, which is why we clean its mesh filters and casing for £28 while the oven parts soak. A microwave is £22 and takes minutes once we are already there.
Hobs are the fiddly bit. Rings burnt around the fast plate, sugar gone to carbon on induction glass, and because Battersea water is hard, every boil-over dries to a chalky ring that ordinary wiping will not move. We lift it from glass with proper blades, not scourers, so the hob comes up clear instead of scratched.
One honest note on extractors: if yours has the throwaway paper-and-fleece filters, we say so, because replacing those is better value than cleaning them, and we would rather lose the £28 than charge it for a bad idea.
