How hot-water extraction works
Hot-water extraction is the proper name for what most people call steam cleaning. The machine pushes heated water and a measured amount of solution down into the pile under pressure, agitates the fibres, then pulls almost all of it back out again with strong suction. The dirt that has worked its way down to the base of the carpet comes up with the water. That last part, the pulling-back-out, is the bit cheap jobs skip.
Why we use it over dry compounds: extraction reaches the bottom of the pile. A sprinkle-and-vac dry clean freshens the top you can see and leaves the ground-in grit sitting underneath, which is the grit that wears a carpet out. Extraction lifts it.
