That two-bed figure is the one most renters round here ask for. A lot of the flats above the shops on Old York Road and in the conversions off Garratt Lane are two-beds, and £115 does the lot in one visit. How we actually clean a carpet
We use hot-water extraction. People call it steam cleaning, which is close enough.
The short version: we work a cleaning solution into the pile so it has a minute or two to break down the grease and grit that a vacuum never reaches, and then the machine pushes hot water through the carpet and pulls almost all of it back out in the same pass, taking the loosened muck with it. That is the whole trick. The dirt leaves with the water instead of being scrubbed deeper into the backing, which is what a cheap bonnet-buff or a tub of supermarket foam tends to do. Before any of that we go over the carpet with a proper vacuum and treat the obvious marks by hand. The tea rings, the foundation smudges by the mirror, the muddy trail from the front door that every ground-floor flat near the river seems to grow in winter. Pre-treating first means the extraction does less arguing later.
One honest caveat. Hot-water extraction is brilliant on most spills and traffic grime, but a stain that has sat in the underlay for years, old pet urine especially, may not come back to brand new. We will tell you that on the day and not charge you for a miracle we cannot do.
We bring our own machine, our own water tank and our own power lead, so all we need from you is a tap to fill from at the start and somewhere to empty the dirty water at the end. In a top-floor flat with no lift, of which Wandsworth has plenty, that means a bit of carrying up the stairs, but it is our problem to sort, not yours. The hard water problem
