How we actually clean a carpet
The method is hot-water extraction. Most people call it steam cleaning, though there is hardly any steam in it. Here is how a job runs, in the order we do it.
We vacuum first, slowly and right into the pile, because dry grit lifts out far more easily before it gets wet. Skip that step and you only smear mud about, which is one reason a rushed cheap clean can leave a carpet looking worse than when you started. Then comes the pre-spray, chosen to suit the fibre and how grubby the carpet really is, and we leave it a few minutes. That short wait is when the soil lets go. Hurry it and you are just wetting the floor.
Then the machine goes on. Hot water is driven into the pile under pressure and pulled straight back out, carrying the loosened dirt with it, while a powerful vacuum hauls most of the moisture away so the carpet is left damp instead of swimming. The carpets we meet around Hounslow
Hounslow grew up as a coaching stop on the old Bath Road, then again when the Piccadilly line pushed out west in the 1930s, and the housing tells that story in layers. Stains, and what we will not promise
