Most of our Preston jobs are the 1930s semis on the streets feeding into Preston Road station, and nine times out of ten the carpet that needs us most is the hall and stairs. That dark lane worn down the middle of a Metro-land hallway is the single most common thing we are called out for around HA9.

Last updated April 2026. Written by the Monster Cleaning team for households and landlords around Preston Road, Wembley.

We clean carpets across Preston using hot-water extraction, from £36 a bedroom and £43 a living room, with a 48-hour re-clean guarantee.

What it costs in Preston

Here is the price list, no asterisks. A bedroom is £36. A living room is £43. A through-lounge, the knocked-through front-to-back room you find in a lot of the bigger semis off Preston Hill, is £61 because it is effectively two rooms of carpet. A flight of stairs is £41. A rug up to 2m2 is £35, and a larger rug over 2m2 is £51. If you want the whole carpeted area of a two-bed flat done in one visit, that is £115.

Those are full prices. We do not quote a low number on the phone and then find reasons to push it up on the doorstep, which is a trick that gives this trade a bad name. What we say is what you pay, and we say it before we start.

A rough Preston three-bed semi, with the lounge, two bedrooms and the stairs, lands around the low one-hundreds. We will give you the exact figure once we know the rooms. Ring it through and you get a fixed quote, not a guess.

No surprises on the doorstep.

How hot-water extraction works

People call it steam cleaning, which is close enough. The proper name is hot-water extraction, and it is the method that actually gets fitted carpet clean rather than just damp on top.

It goes like this. We vacuum first, because extraction is for the ground-in dirt and dry grit blunts everything. Then we pre-spray the pile with a cleaning solution and give the dirty areas a bit of agitation so the solution gets down into the fibres rather than sitting on the tips. Then the machine does the work: hot water pushed in under pressure and pulled straight back out, carrying the loosened dirt with it. The carpet comes up damp, not flooded, and the solution gets rinsed away so the pile is not left tacky and pulling dirt back in a week later.

That dark lane worn down the middle of a Metro-land hallway is the single most common thing we are called out for around HA9.

Drying is usually four to six hours with a window cracked and the heating on low. Wool takes longer than a synthetic carpet, and a cold day adds time. If you need a room back fast we can set an air mover running on it. Easy.

Preston homes and their carpets

Preston is Metro-land, built out in the late 1920s and through the 1930s once the railway came. The Preston Park estate went up over what had been a golf course, and the streets around Forty Green, Uxendon Crescent and Preston Hill are mostly gabled semi-detached houses, a fair few with the mock-Tudor timbering across the front gable. They share a layout, which is handy for us, because it means we know what we are walking into before we knock.

The typical job is a hall, stairs and landing in one run, a front room, and bedrooms upstairs. Halls in these houses are narrow and they funnel everyone in off Preston Road and the buses, so the carpet there takes a beating and shows a clear traffic lane. Stairs collect the same grime on the leading edge of each tread. The back reception, where it has been knocked through to the kitchen, picks up cooking grease that drifts and settles into the pile near the doorway.

Plenty of these houses are let. The Preston ward has a much higher share of private renting than the country as a whole, well over half of homes around here, so a good chunk of what we do is carpets being freshened between tenancies as well as for people staying put.

Newer blocks sit closer to Wembley Park on the eastern edge, and those tend to have lighter modern carpet or hard floor with rugs. We clean both. The rug rates above cover the loose pieces, and we can take a smaller rug outside on a dry day if it needs more than an in-place clean.

Move-out cleans near the station

A lot of our Preston carpet work is tied to people moving. The flats and converted houses within a few minutes of Preston Road station turn over often, and a clean carpet is usually the difference between an inventory clerk ticking the box and an awkward conversation about the deposit.

If you are handing keys back, we clean the carpets to the standard a checkout report expects. If you want the kitchen, the bathrooms and the whole flat brought up to scratch as well, that is a full job, and you can read about our end of tenancy cleaning in Preston for the detail and the pricing on that. We are happy to quote the carpets on their own or the carpets as part of the move-out, whichever suits.

Landlords around here tend to book the same package each time once they have used us, because they know the carpet will pass.

Stains, pets and hard water

Two stains come up again and again in Preston homes: the traffic lane in the hall, and pet accidents near the back door where the dog goes out to the garden. The traffic lane is usually just years of compacted dirt and it responds well to a proper pre-spray and extraction. Pet marks are trickier because they soak through to the backing, so we treat them, work the treatment in and extract, and we are honest about what will and will not shift.

Some marks do not come out. Set-in dye from a spilled drink, or a patch where carpet shampoo and bleach have already been at it, are past saving, and we will say so on the day rather than take your money and leave you disappointed.

One local quirk worth a mention. Preston is on Affinity Water, which is very hard here, around 310 milligrams of calcium per litre. That hardness does not damage a clean carpet, but it does mean plain tap water rinses less effectively, so we dose our solution for hard water and rinse properly. The limescale you can see on the kitchen taps is a different matter, and a different visit.

What you do and what we do

A bit of prep on your side makes the clean better. Here is the honest division of labour.

  • Move the small things off the floor, lamps, baskets, anything breakable, and we will move the sofa and the armchairs.
  • Beds, wardrobes and full bookcases stay put. We clean the carpet that is reachable around them rather than empty the room.
  • Tell us about any stain you already know about, and what was spilled if you remember, because it changes how we treat it.
  • Keep pets and small children off the damp carpet until it has dried, which is the only fiddly part of the whole day.

We bring the machine, the water, the solution and the power lead. You bring the kettle on, if you are feeling generous.

What we say is what you pay, and we say it before we start.

While we are at the house we can sort other jobs if you want them lined up. People often add oven cleaning in Preston to a move-out, and regulars sometimes pair the carpets with domestic cleaning in Preston so the place gets a full reset in one go. Booking and our guarantee

Booking is a phone call. Ring 0333 555 2076 or email [email protected] with your postcode and which rooms need doing, and we will give you a fixed price and a slot. Most weeks we can reach a Preston job within a few days. We turn up when we say we will, which should not be a selling point in this trade but somehow still is.

We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House number 9919639, trading since 2014, run out of 255 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QS. We are open about our reviews: we hold a Trustpilot rating of 3.1 out of 5 across 128 reviews, and we would rather tell you that straight than dress it up. We carry public liability insurance, and we back the work with a 48-hour re-clean guarantee, so if a carpet has not come up the way we both expected, you tell us within two days and we come back and put it right.

That is the whole offer. Fair price, proper method, and we stand behind it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Preston?

Prices start from £36 for a bedroom and £43 for a living room. A through-lounge is £61, a flight of stairs is £41, and a whole carpeted two-bed flat is £115. Rugs are £35 up to 2m2 and £51 over 2m2. Those are the full figures, not a teaser rate.

Do you cover the whole of Preston and Preston Road?

Yes. We clean carpets right across the Preston ward and the streets either side of Preston Road station, from the Preston Park estate and Forty Green up to Barn Hill, and along the Kenton border. If you are in HA9 or the HA0 fringe, we reach you.

What carpet cleaning method do you use?

Hot-water extraction, often called steam cleaning. We pre-spray the carpet, agitate the pile, then flush the dirt out with hot water under pressure and pull most of it straight back into the machine. It lifts grime that a domestic vacuum cannot, and it rinses out the cleaning solution so the pile is not left sticky.

How long will my carpets take to dry?

Usually four to six hours with windows open and the heating ticking over. A dense wool carpet on a cold day takes longer. We use strong extraction so the carpet comes up damp, not soaked, and we can leave an air mover running on a stubborn through-lounge if you need the room back sooner.

Can you get pet stains and old traffic marks out?

Often, yes, though no honest firm promises every mark. The dark traffic lane down a Metro-land hallway and pet accidents near the back door are the two we treat most. We test a stain treatment first, work it in, then extract. Set-in dye marks and bleach damage cannot be reversed, and we will tell you that on the day rather than after.

The finish up close: lifted pile, even lines, colour back to true.

Do I need to move the furniture before you arrive?

Move the small stuff and anything breakable if you can, and we will shift the sofa and the chairs. We do not move beds, wardrobes or full bookcases, and we clean the carpet that is reachable around them. Clearing the floor first means more carpet gets cleaned in the time.

Is the price the same for a rented flat being handed back?

The carpet rates are the same whether you own the place or you are moving out. A lot of our Preston work is move-out cleans for tenants and landlords near the station. If you want the kitchen, bathrooms and the rest done as well, that is a separate end of tenancy job and we can quote both together.

How do I book carpet cleaning in Preston?

Ring 0333 555 2076 or email [email protected] with your postcode and roughly which rooms need doing. We give you a fixed price up front, agree a slot, and turn up when we say. Most weeks we can fit a Preston job in within a few days.

Are you insured, and what if I am not happy?

We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, registered at Companies House under number 9919639 and trading since 2014, and we carry public liability insurance. If a carpet does not come up the way we both expected, tell us within 48 hours and we come back and re-clean the area. That is the guarantee, in plain words.

Will hard water and limescale affect the carpet clean?

Preston sits in the Affinity Water supply, which is very hard at around 310 milligrams of calcium per litre. Hard water itself does not harm a clean carpet, but it does mean tap water rinses less well, so we dose our solution for it and rinse thoroughly. The harder job is the limescale on your taps and shower, which is a different visit.

Do you clean stairs and landings as one price?

A single flight of stairs is £41. A typical Preston semi has one flight from the hall up to the landing, and we treat the landing carpet as part of that where it is the same run. A second flight to a loft conversion is priced as another flight. We will confirm it when we see the layout.

Can you clean a rug as well as the fitted carpet?

Yes, and we can do the rug in place or take a smaller one outside on a dry day for a more thorough clean. A rug up to 2m2 is £35 and a larger rug over 2m2 is £51. Wool and viscose rugs need a gentler approach, so tell us the material when you book.

A fixed price on the spot. Pay when it’s done.

Call with the rooms you want doing and the figure is fixed before we hang up.
