What it costs
The obvious question first, and the honest answer is two prices, because there are two different jobs. A regular cleaner kept on your home is £22 per cleaner per hour weekly, or £24 fortnightly, no VAT and no call-out fee anywhere in the borough.
A three-hour weekly clean is £66. A fortnightly visit of two to three hours lands between £48 and £72, depending on how long you book. The rate is the same whether the cleaner stays two hours or four, so nobody gets pushed into time they do not need, and we do not load it for a walk-up flat above a shop on Walworth Road.
A one-off clean is the other service, and it is priced differently because it is different work. We send a team, usually two cleaners for about three hours, at £26 per cleaner per hour, with a £67 minimum so a small job is worth a team turning out for. That booking is a one-time deep reset rather than ongoing upkeep.
Ironing is the common add-on, at £12 an hour on top of the cleaning time. When the cleaner spends the last stretch of a visit on a pile of shirts, that part is charged at the ironing rate, and we build the minutes in.
A word on the rock-bottom quotes that drift around this trade. The cheapest hourly rates only hold up because somebody is being underpaid to prop them up.
Two different jobs, two prices
People run these two together, so here is the plain version. They are not the same booking and they are not priced the same way.

The kitchen and bathroom stay on top of themselves, and your cleaner gets quicker because they learn where everything lives. What a regular visit covers
A regular clean follows the same routine each time, scaled to your home and the hours booked. The core is the kitchen and bathrooms done properly, the rest dusted, hoovered and mopped, and the parts everyone forgets actually dealt with. A bigger terraced house off Lordship Lane wants more time. A studio in an Elephant Park block that finishes early gets the extras done rather than the cleaner clocking off.
Kitchen. Worktops, splashback, sink and taps wiped, disinfected and descaled. The Thames Water supply across the borough is hard enough to film a tap inside a fortnight, so descaling is a weekly habit here, not an occasional treat. The hob is done properly, appliance fronts wiped, the floor mopped, and the bins go out.
Bathrooms. Bath, shower, screen and tiles scrubbed and descaled, which round here swallows the most minutes. The toilet cleaned under the rim, around the base and the handle. Basin, taps, mirror and glass left clear. The floor washed and behind the pedestal included, because that is the spot most cleaners skip and the one a bathroom starts to smell from.
Bedrooms and living rooms. Every flat surface dusted, picture frames and door frames included. Carpets, rugs and hard floors hoovered, the sofa too when there is room. Beds made if they are not already, and linen changed when you leave clean sheets out. Skirting boards on a rota rather than every visit.
Around the home. Light switches, door handles and the bannister, the germy bits everyone touches and nobody thinks about. Internal glass too, and a last walk-through before the cleaner locks up. The homes we clean across the borough
Southwark is not one kind of housing.
Up at the river end you have the warehouse conversions around Shad Thames and Bermondsey Street, loft-style flats with exposed brick and tall windows, where dust shows on a dark floor the moment the light catches it. South into Bermondsey proper, between the Old Kent Road and Southwark Park, it turns to rows of little two-storey Victorian cottages with a narrow stair the house funnels up and down. Walworth and Camberwell are bigger terraces, a good share split into flats and let to sharers, and Walworth carries some of the largest council housing in the country off the Walworth Road.
Then there is the family-house end, and East Dulwich is the heart of it. SE22 is the finest run of Victorian suburbia in Southwark, built in a twenty-year stretch from the 1860s, narrow-fronted but tall, from the plainer roads to the Gothic flourishes along Barry Road, with Lordship Lane as the high street. Those houses keep their original floors, tiled hallways and picture rails, and want a careful clean rather than a wet slap-around. We reach for gentler products where a harsh one would mark old tile or parquet.

And the new stuff is everywhere at the Elephant. The towers and the Elephant Park blocks are short-pile, hard-surface flats, but the hard water still films the glass shower and chrome taps, and that is where a regular visit earns its keep. That water is the one thing nearly every Southwark home shares. The mains runs hard across the borough, which is why the kettle furs up and a strong descaler is in every kit as standard.
Parking, access and getting in
Parking around Southwark is a planning job in itself. The borough runs 31 controlled parking zones covering roughly 60 per cent of its streets, most in force right through the working day, so a cleaner driving in cold can lose ten minutes circling for a space.
There is a Southwark quirk on top of that. A lot of the newer flats and conversions, the blocks around Elephant and Castle especially, are designated car-free under their planning, so residents cannot buy a permit and there is no visitor permit to lend either. - A quick look on the first visit. For regular bookings the cleaner does a five-minute walk-round at the start of the first clean, free, so the routine fits.
- We assign your cleaner. For a regular slot, someone who covers your area and stays on your home from then on. For a one-off, a team booked in for the day.
- You decide how we get in. A key kept against a reference number, a key safe, or you let the cleaner in. Whatever you are comfortable with.
- A message when it is done. The cleaner drops you a note, often with a photo or two of the finished rooms, so you know the job has happened.

Do I need to provide cleaning products or a hoover?
