King Street is a five-minute walk and a different world from the flats off it, the quiet Victorian terraces of Brackenbury Village where the ovens have fed families since long before the conservation rules went up. Those are the kitchens we are in most weeks. Oven cleaning across Hammersmith and Fulham starts at £77 for a single oven, cleaned in a non-caustic dip-tank and ready to use the same day. Racks, trays and the inner door glass go into a heated tank in the van while we hand-clean the cavity. No caustic stink, no afternoon with every sash window open, and the roast goes back in the moment the van pulls away. Ring 0333 555 2076 for a firm price in about ninety seconds.

Last updated April 2026. Covering W6, W12 and W14 plus the SW6 stretch of the borough, from Hammersmith Broadway and King Street through Brook Green and Brackenbury Village, up to Shepherd’s Bush and Ravenscourt Park, and south to Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Walham Green.

What an oven clean costs here

Prices first, because that is what people ring about. A single oven is from £77. A double, the tall built-in sort with two cavities, from £110. A 90cm range cooker is from £114, and a two-oven AGA from £143, which we meet more often than you might think in the bigger Brook Green flats. Tell us the cooker type and how grim it has got, and a firm figure goes to you on the phone before the van leaves the yard.

The whole kit rides in the van, so anything sat near the oven is cheaper added to the same visit than booked on its own. A hob is £23 to £28, depending on whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. An extractor hood with its filter is £28. A microwave is £22. Plenty of customers tack the hob and extractor on once they clock how the grease shows next to a clean oven.

No call-out fee. The price covers the products, the kit and the drive across the borough, and you pay on the day by card or bank transfer. You also get a receipt on company headed paper. That matters at a move-out: a Hammersmith managing agent will usually want proof the oven was done before a deposit goes back, and a line scribbled on a notepad does not cut it.

No caustic stink, no afternoon with every sash window thrown open, and the roast goes back in the moment the van pulls away.

How we actually clean an oven

Most of the trade runs a dip-tank of some kind. What separates a good clean from a poor one is the chemistry, the bits people skip, and whether the person doing it has done a handful of ovens or a few thousand. Ours have done the few thousand. Here is the order.

  1. The floor goes down and the worktop either side gets covered. The oven comes off the wall and cools right down if it has been on that day.
  2. Everything that lifts out, lifts out. Racks, trays, runners, the fan cover, and the inner door glass. Modern doors have a removable inner pane, and the baked film hiding between the layers is the real reason an oven still looks dirty after you have scrubbed it raw. We unclip that pane. Most people never knew it came out.
  3. The removable parts go into a heated tank in the van, a non-caustic water-based degreaser held around 60C. Twenty to forty minutes in there shifts the lot: carbon, baked grease, and the hard-water scale crusted round the grill pan.
  4. While they soak we work the cavity by hand. Enzyme degreaser on the walls, roof, floor and back panel, left to dwell so the chemistry does the lifting instead of your wrist. Then non-abrasive pads, detail brushes round the seal channel and element, and a microfibre finish. The fan blade gets extra time, because that is where carbon does the lasting harm.
  5. Parts out, rinsed, dried, refitted. Door glass cleaned on both faces, gasket wiped, runners back in their slots. Exactly as we found it.
  6. A quick function test. Oven on, fan turning, handed back ready to cook on.

It is not glamorous work, and we have never pretended it is. It is the difference between an oven that looks a bit better and one that is genuinely clean down to the element, where it decides how long it lasts. Carbon caked on the fan is the commonest reason the rental ovens we meet at a Hammersmith check-out have already given up, and a clean twice a year is far cheaper than a new oven fitted.

We have seen worse. Honestly.

Thames Water, limescale and your oven

Hammersmith and Fulham has a limescale problem, and ovens cop it as badly as kettles do. Thames Water supplies the whole borough, drawing it through the chalk of the Thames basin, so what comes out of the tap is very hard, up around 280 to 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Every time steam off a roasting tin hits cold metal, a little more scale gets left behind. Grill pans go cloudy, door glass films over, and the chrome on the racks turns dull and rough under your thumb.

Grease and scale together are stubborn in a way grease alone is not. A supermarket spray is built for the grease and slides straight over the scale, which is why so many flats off Goldhawk Road end up with an oven that smells clean but still looks tired. The dip-tank takes on both at once. The warm water-based solution lifts the carbon and the calcium deposits off the same tray in one soak, and the racks come out smooth again instead of gritty. You can read the detail on the Thames Water hard-water pages if you fancy it.

Roast dinner coming out of a sparkling clean oven
A clean oven cooks cleaner: no smoke, no old-grease smell, just dinner.

We are not here to sell you a softener. The point is that in this borough the scale is doing quiet damage on top of the grease, and a proper clean has to deal with both or it has not really done the job.

Hammersmith and Fulham kitchens

You can date a kitchen here by the cooker in it. In Brackenbury Village, the grid of Victorian terraces hemmed in by Goldhawk Road, King Street, Hammersmith Grove and Ravenscourt Park, the stock is two and three-storey houses, plenty of them long ago carved into flats, each with its own oven taking heavy weeknight use. The whole quarter sits in one of the borough’s many conservation areas, so you cannot simply rip a kitchen out, and a fair few ovens are the original galley fit-out wedged into a back return.

Brook Green and the streets towards Fulham bring in the mansion blocks, big red-brick Edwardian flats with roomier kitchens and older, grander cookers, the odd range or two-oven AGA among them. Down at Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Walham Green it shifts to bay-fronted terraces and converted maisonettes, single built-in ovens that have fed a household hard for years. Then there are the newer blocks along the river and up towards the Shepherd’s Bush end by Westfield, fitted with sleek integrated ovens that look easy and are anything but: the door glass clouds fast and the racks tuck right to the back where a sponge will not reach.

Getting a tank around the borough is its own small art. We work off Hammersmith Broadway, where the District, Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City and Circle lines all meet over the bus station, plus Ravenscourt Park and Goldhawk Road for the north and Fulham Broadway for the south. The quirk worth knowing is the controlled parking across most residential roads, the CPZ bays you need a permit for, which tightens around King Street and the Brackenbury parade at busy hours. If your road sits in one of those zones, tell us when you book and we plan the slot around it. Most days it makes no odds. The borough also sits inside the ULEZ, which runs daily bar Christmas Day, so an old diesel parked outside is a daily charge whether we are there or not.

What the price includes

Everything below is part of a standard oven clean, not an extra once we are through the door.

  • Full strip-down and reassembly of the oven.
  • Dip-tank clean of every removable part: racks, trays, side runners, fan cover, inner door glass, plus range trivets and burners where there are any.
  • Enzyme cavity clean of the walls, roof, floor, back panel, fan, element and seals.
  • Both faces of the inner and outer door glass.
  • Hinges and the seal gasket cleaned and checked.
  • Control knobs and the front panel wiped down.
  • A function test before we go, and same-day use, because nothing we use has to burn off.
  • All products, all kit, and the drive across the borough.

And the part that does not sit on a tidy list: a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee. If something is not right, flag it to the technician before they pack up and it gets put right on the spot. Spot it after we have gone and one phone call brings us back. It rarely comes to that, but the guarantee is there so you are not taking it on trust.

How booking works

It is a short phone call. Ring 0333 555 2076 and tell us the oven type, roughly how bad it is, any add-ons like the hob or extractor, and when suits you. We price it on the spot and book the slot. You can also email [email protected] if you would sooner put it in writing.

Most oven jobs in the borough land within three to five days, and same-day or next-day slots come up often midweek. Month-end is the busy patch, when move-out cleans stack up across the borough, so if you are cleaning for an inspection, give us a week where you can. On the day we turn up in a liveried van with the dip-tank aboard, and you are welcome to stay or head out. There is a bit of scrubbing noise and no chemical smell at any point. We test it, take payment, and leave you an oven you would happily put a Sunday roast in. Not sure how bad yours counts as? Send a photo over the phone and we quote it properly.

We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, registered at 255 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QS, and Hammersmith and Fulham is one of the boroughs our vans run in week in, week out.

Frequently asked questions

How much does oven cleaning cost in Hammersmith and Fulham?

A single oven is from £77, a double from £110, and a 90cm range cooker from £114. A two-oven AGA is from £143. Bolted onto the same visit, the extras come in cheaper: a hob is £23 to £28, an extractor hood £28, and a microwave £22. You get a firm figure on the phone first, so the price on the day is the one you agreed.

Which parts of the borough do you cover?

All of it. Hammersmith Broadway and King Street, Brackenbury Village, Brook Green and Ravenscourt Park in the north, across to Shepherd’s Bush, and south through Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Walham Green. If your postcode is W6, W12, W14 or SW6 you are well inside the patch. Ring with your postcode and we confirm in seconds.

Can I use the oven the same day you clean it?

Yes, the minute we leave. The dip-tank is non-caustic and water-based, so there is no caustic smell to burn off and no afternoon with the windows open. The roast can go straight back in. For a lot of customers round here that is the whole reason they ring us instead of reaching for a supermarket spray.

Hammersmith has hard water. Does that hurt my oven?

It does, more than most people reckon. Thames Water draws the borough’s supply through chalk, so it runs very hard, up around 280 to 300 parts per million of calcium carbonate. Limescale crusts on grill pans, films the door glass and roughens the chrome on the racks. We lift the scale as well as the grease, and the tank takes both off the metal without scratching it.

My flat is in Brackenbury Village. Can you still do the oven?

Easily. We clean plenty of ovens in those Victorian terraces between Goldhawk Road and King Street, and a good few are the original galley kitchens you cannot rip out under the conservation rules. The oven comes off the wall, the tank does the removable parts in the van, and the kitchen is left exactly as we found it. The conservation status is about the building, not your cooker, so it makes no odds to us.

How long does an oven clean take?

A single oven is about 90 minutes. A double is nearer two hours, a 90cm range two to two and a half. An AGA can run to a half-day because of its size and the enamel. We give you a realistic time on the phone so you can plan the morning around it rather than wait in all day.

When you can check your reflection in the oven door, it is done.

Is the method safe for the oven and the kitchen?

Yes. The tank is warm and water-based, kept well below the heat that would warp metal or lift a coating, and the cavity products are enzyme-based and enamel-safe. Most of the real damage we meet in local ovens came from years of caustic soda spray stripping the enamel, or wire wool scratching the door glass. We use neither.

Do you clean the racks, trays and door glass as well?

Every part that lifts out comes out and goes in the dip-tank: racks, trays, side runners and the fan cover. We also split the door and clean between the panes, which is where the brown film you can never wipe off actually sits. It all goes back exactly as it came out, both faces of the glass clear.

Do you clean the big range cookers and AGAs in the Brook Green flats?

Yes, those are some of our favourite jobs. A 90cm range is from £114 and a two-oven AGA from £143, and both take longer than a standard oven because of the size and, with an AGA, the cast-iron enamel that needs handling gently. We clean the trivets, burners and hotplates along with the cavities. Tell us the make on the phone and we price it properly.

Do you clean pyrolytic or self-cleaning ovens?

Yes, and plenty of owners of them still book us. The self-clean cycle bakes the cavity to ash but leaves the door glass, the racks and the fan cover untouched, and it does nothing for the hob or the extractor. Most owners run the cycle now and then and have us in once a year for everything the cycle ignores.

Is Monster Cleaning a real, insured company?

Yes. We are Monster Cleaning Ltd, Companies House number 9919639, trading since 2014, with a satisfaction and re-clean guarantee on every job. Our Trustpilot sits at 3.1 out of 5 across 128 reviews, which we would sooner show you straight than dress up. Insurance papers go to managing agents and landlords on request.
